"Old World Charm"
The hotel has a rich history, that being said it is dated or at least the room we were in. The bonus of this was great hardwood floors and a larger sized room than in most NYC hotels. Furnishings were a little grandma like though. The best part was the staff. Loved the elevator operators and doormen so friendly. Front desk and concierge too. Great location for shopping and accessing Central Park and museums.

"Great Manhattan location"
Enjoyed the pool, the staff and location to St Patrick Cathedral (we over Easter weekend). Would have enjoyed a coffee maker in room or lobby. There was an obnoxious livery driver in front of hotel each night that should be removed from the front of the hotel (although he was not a staff member) the doorman certainly could be useful in making sure only pleasant accommodating drivers perch in front of their doorstep. Enjoyed the holiday events that were planned for,the children. And the lobby bar/dining, although expensive, was top notch.

"Beautiful place , central to everythng."
My trip was just an overnight to meet with friends. The Essex was simple to get to from Penn Station. We were fortunate to have the first decent weather in months, and so we walked across the street and through Central Park to get to the Upper West Side for our restaurant. Our evening was at Lincoln Center, again, just a short walk away from the Essex. and getting back to Penn Station was easy as well. In the hotel, my only chagrin was to find no robes ( I had packed expecting there would be one.), and no ice machine. but the front desk was ever-so-obliging to bring me ice at 2 AM. I thought that was very decent of them. although, the fellow who brought it did not look too happy. My check-in experience was terrific. It was a Saturday, but I had no difficulty when I suggested they place both of my friends on the same floor with me.. We had cocktails in the bar, again prompt and courteous. I had a lovely stay!

"Great Hotel Great Location"
Spent 5 days at the Affinia Dumont in a Junior Skyline Suite on the 34th floor. Arrived to a complimentary bottle of wine and foil balloons for my wife's Birthday. Views from room were amazing. Staff were pleasant enough although we hardly spent much time in the hotel just used it as a base between days and nights out. Room cleaned every day. We appreciated the free wine tasting hour between six and seven every day. Great location short walk from ESB. Sightseeing - make sure you get the first ferry across to Statue of Liberty at 8.30am any later and you will queue for hours on end. Luckily we had already read this on a review and when we got back from the statue the queues were horrendous. Do ESB in day and Top of Rock at night or vice versa. All in all fantastic stay.

"BEYOND EXPECTATIONS:"
My pet peeve is that the more hotel stars the more you pay for complementary services. NOT SO at the Langham! Of course Wi Fi is gratis, but so are the soft drinks in the room, shoe shines, and hotel car, a Maserati Quatttopore. Service is outstanding, I never stayed at a 5 star or any hotel that automatically fill your ice bucket. This is a discrete European boutique type hotel, so if you are expecting a huge showy labby filled with loud tourist, you will be disappointed. The room, not suite, was over 900 sq. feet. The bathroom was 5 times the standard size with a dressing room. The tub is so deep you could drown in it. The shower fits a family of 5. The decor is modern, but not sterile every hotel in the world look. The location is great: on Fifth Avenue one block from the Empire State Building. Safe area. In the middle of everything, but not the overcrowded hustle bustle part of Fifth. Truly a find. I highly recommend it.

"Beautiful hotel in a great NYC shopping area"
Myself and two teenage daughters shared a double room which was very spacious and comfortable. I really don't have any complaints as the whole experience was amazing, but it would be wonderful to have beds a bit larger as I'm small and felt big in the bed. Also, beautiful bathroom, but would have loved double sinks. That's all - will come back just the way it is.
