Pros: Location to the beach and Java Beach Cafe
Knew upon reserving this motel that it was not going to be the best, however it was worse then I expected.....dirty windows, dirty window sills, no screens. Mold spots on bathroom shower curtain. No light covering in bathroom. no ventilation in BR...distinct smell! very old and outdated. Staff hardly spoke to me upon check-in/out Loud street noise all night. Hole in window. What looked like what used to be a fireplace was boarded up and had a plastic grocery store type bag to close up a gap. TV, Microwave, and mini fridge (which had mold in it) were all plugged into a power which on the floor. Bed was poorly made. Restaurants near by were very good. Super nice weekend also and were within walking distance to the beach. Not sure how they made the list onto Expedia...sorry!

Don't expect too much and you'll be fine here!Posted Jul 4, 2015
Pros: Good location (right at the beach, close to public transport, walking distance to the park.) Safe neighborhood (walked around alone at 10pm as a woman. I wouldn't recommend this, but I never felt scared and no one bothered me.) One of the cheapest rooms around. Still overpriced, but it's San Francisco. Room looked like it hasn't changed since 1983 but I thought that was kinda cute. More importantly though, it was clean. There's a tv, a mini-fridge, and a microwave. Cons: My room smelled like cigarette smoke. I don't know if a previous guest had smoked or if it was coming in through the vents. My mini-fridge was so loud that I had to unplug it to sleep and I'm not noise sensitive. Neutral: Noise from the street. I sleep like a rock so it was not an issue for me, but if you're a light sleeper you'd likely wake up every time the public transport rolls by. In conclusion, I would stay here again.

Affordable, Close to beachPosted Jun 30, 2015
Affordable motel close to coffee, good restaurants, beach, and muni. Free parking saved money and the room was comfortable, had tv, refrigerator, and clean.

Not bad, good pricePosted Jun 22, 2015
Not the nicest hotel but it was cheap so I went for it. Overall I'm happy with the decision, the neighbourhood seemed safe, the bed was comfortable and the room had many conveniences such as a microwave and fridge, you can also ask the front desk for an electric kettle. The main pitfall was the noise, the light rail that travels by the hotel every 10 or so minutes is quite loud so if you're not a heavy sleeper it could be a problem.

Cheap for San Francisco.Posted Jun 18, 2015
Pros: I stayed here because it was the lowest rate I could find in this neighborhood. The bed was comfortable. If you're not particular the place is ok.
Cons: The wi fi could be better. It would be nice to have a coffee pot.
Location: I chose this place because it's cheap and not far from Ft Miley. You can walk to the beach if you want to. There are a couple of nice looking cafes.
Bare bones motel. It does have a microwave and frig, which I didn't use. The room was reasonably clean. You have to go up a steep flight of stairs in back, no elevator. Rather noisy, in part due to Muni cars on the street. This is an old building with squeaking floor boards. The wi fi connection I found unreliable. The heater works but there's no AC.

Great location but...Posted Jun 15, 2015
Close to the beach (walking distance) and perfectly located as far as being able to get anywhere in SF in a short/moderate drive. However, room was old and didn't feel clean. There was little parking after 7pm. Oh... And I hope you are a sound sleeper because between the Pub downstairs and the cable cars it was loud and shook the room every time a train would pass. Which was about every 15-20 min. Not a horrible experience but I wouldn't stay here again.

Beach DivePosted Jun 14, 2015
Cons: demolish site and start over
Location: Beach close by.....Cliff House has been ruined by Park Service Contractors - is close to GG park and some pleasant neighborhoods
walkup without elevators, old, dingy, terrible parking, N-Judah runs nearly all night through unsealed windows. Over-priced even for neighborhood. Good coffee across the street otherwise drab dull area. car or long trolley ride to ANYTHING

Okay if you know what to expect and soloPosted May 1, 2015 on Hotels
This stay was only worth it to me because I had a deal rate and was travelling alone and knew what to expect. It was doing lots of recreation on my trip and so was coming back exhausted nightly, which meant I was able to sleep pretty easily. Otherwise, the street cars passing regularly and shaking the room (the least of the issues), the thin walls, and the bar attached to the same building which started playing music nightly at 11:00 pm, would have really kept me up. Stay on the 3rd floor if possible, as any movement in the room above you is very loud and disturbing. Earplugs required to get a decent sleep.
