Crawdad hotel with always COLD Jacuzzi.Posted Feb 25, 2015
Pros: Nothing. My first and last stay there.
Dirty beach. No one even think about to clean in up after waves throw tons of seaweed Lack of clean beach towels and availability of beach beds. Always COLD indoor Jacuzzi at the spa. Stuff refused to make the hot water. There are no dedicated spots for smoking. People smoking in the pool, beach, buffets, hotel halls, everywhere!!! Just one pool for so many peoples

Nice hotel on the beach.Posted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: The beach was beautiful, even though it was crowded. There were so many chairs, you could always find a place to sit. Decent food.
Cons: The staff should be friendly and you should be able to get a beer at the other Riu resorts in the complex. This was NOT the case.
Location: You could walk through to all of the other Riu resorts on the complex, but contrary to what the website says, you could not stop for a drink at any.
This hotel is beautiful from a distance. The theme restaurants were good, but the buffet was hit and miss. We are not picky eaters, but sometimes the buffet was terrible. The staff here is not very friendly. Each morning, at breakfast, there are four of five of the staff standing in the doorway and you literally had to maneuver around them to get to your table with your plate. Many times, in all areas of the resort, I had to walk around staff members to get through the halls. The grounds are beautiful, but the resort is in need of basic maintenance. In the spa, there are huge, beautiful, cold jacuzzis with no jets. Wasted space, no one was using them because they were cold and built without jets. The on site casino shown on their website has been closed and to get to a casino is a $40 RT taxi fare. The liquor in the drinks is very watered down. We were told that we could only get drinks at the Riu Palace Punta Cana, even though the website states that we could enjoy the other Riu resorts in the complex. All in all, we had a good time because we came to relax and sit on the beach, but we expected more from a Riu resort.

We stayed at this resort the week of February 2nd and enjoyed every moment. The resort was beautiful, the employees were friendly and very attentive, pool and beach were beautiful, and the food was great. We especially enjoyed the Steakhouse. It was a week of relaxation, and as usual the Riu Resorts did not disappoint. We would absolutely recommend this resort and the beautiful Punta Cana.

Glad it was only a 4 night stay and not a week.Posted Feb 6, 2015
Pros: Not much of anything
Cons: events drinks food night life sports etc.
The good, It was sunny and caught some rays. The not so good, The beach was completely covered in seaweed and the water was full of the same. Couldnt even walk the beach there was so much. The food was horrible and the three very small restaurants, we could not even get into the entire trip because they were booked. So, it was buffet the entire trip. The rooms smelled like mold or mildew and one day when we went back to the room, the cleaner left our door wide open all day. Not much night life and the one event they had every night was geared more for elderly crowd which was poor at best. Drinks were not good neither. We basically sat at the pool the entire trip. Nobody even played volleyball or much of anything. We were very disapointed after several people telling us it was such an awesome place to go. Not for us and we wont return.

Riu Palace = Noise pollution.Posted Jan 13, 2015
If you want a relaxing vacation this is not it. Everyday when we were relaxing on the beach the music started, the entertainment folks demanding you dance or participate in horseshoes, volleyball whatever. So we tried the pool - same thing. Water aerobics and the horrible repetitive music. Then at night - the show - which was fine but you had better plan on staying up til midnight due to the noise that travels to your room loud and clear. The food is average - also repetitive. Overall - just make another choice.
