Good cheap hotel

You pay for what you get....got the room quite cheap, its a 15 minute walk to downtown, and easy to get around town. Prob about a 25-30min walk to Alcatraz jetty. Room was clean, nothing spectacular, but was nice for the price. If you are on a budget, hotel was fine.

Simple decor but very clean and comfortable

This was just an overnight stay to visit a friend who lives 2 blocks away. The Hotel has all the basic necessities, was very clean, looked recently decorated. The neighbohood was quiet for being so close to City Hall, the Opera House, etc. The only thing lacking that did not inconvenience we was a small refrigerator, which those staying might want.

Great Value

- Front desk staff was... interesting. No big deal, we only had to deal with them for a few minutes during our entire stay. - Parking was great: front desk staff has a clear view of the parking entrance and about half of the spots, covered, and F-R-E-E! - Neighbourhood was a little bit iffy but I never felt personally in danger, even walking around after midnight. - Room was quite large! Looks like it hasn’t been updated in many years, but it was exceptionally clean. Had a few ’quirky’ touches (like a bottle opener mounted on the wall in the bathroom??) Bed was very comfortable and all linens were very clean. - Spa was empty, but it was summer... who knows? We weren’t planning to use it anyway. - There is a very nice courtyard/deck area where one could read, relax, and spend a nice morning/afternoon. - Centrally located, so it’s fairly easy to get around. Muni stops are just a couple minutes walk away, and destinations like Pier 39 are easily reached within 10 minutes by Muni. Overall, the hotel provided great value for money and a break from the norm. I would stay here again.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Leave you car parked at the hotel for free and pick up a Muni pass and enjoy public transportation. It’s less stressful, cheaper, and very convenient!

Never Again

Desk clerk insisted it was a no smoking room yet there was an ash tray in the room. Walls yellowed with smoke. Furniture corners cracked off. Furniture compared to what you might see with a "for free" sign on someones lawn. Parking area littered with junk. Windows dirty. Terrace dirty with broken empty hot tub. Elevator dirty and raunchy. Check it out. You decide if I’m just a clean freak. Price absolutely exorbitant. Asked for a different room. It wasn’t any better.

Lacking....

At first sight hotel is welcoming enough...upon entering room my viewpoint changed completely as we were greeted with a stuffy room so we looked for an air conditioner, there was not one. We opened the window to let air in, there was o screen on window so of course some bugs flew in. The jacuzzi was drained. The vending machine was not working when I let staff know they pointed me towards the corner liquor store. The remote to the television did not work. There was a phone but no way to reach front desk unless we went to lobby. I do no recommend this place.

Maybe go back,one of good deal Hotels in SFO

it’s near civic center ,but if you want to accede the mass transportation such as BART or MUNI ,it’s not a good choice

Not good, use another if you can

Bas service even for a hotel of his class. Run out of Hot water in the morning. Cheap service: they refill the shampoo bottles

Public transportation is great and easy to use It will take you any place in San Francisco where you want to go, if your are not in a hurry.

Buyer Beware

First room had fleas in the bed. Requested different room and had no problems after that. Location was super. Walking distance to Bart. Local Area was a little rundown. Had a homeless person right outside the lobby door the first day. Would not go anywhere alone especially after dark.

nice for the price

This hotel was perfectly located for what we wanted to do. it wasn’t the nicest place we have stayed in SF, but it was the cheapest in the city. it was a bit run down, and the neighborhood wasn’t the best, but the hotel and parking lot felt safe. one thing that disappointed us was the fact that they talk about their spa/hot tub, and it wasn’t even filled while we were there nor did it look like it had been in a while. We would stay there again, but only for a short weekend trip like this one was.

Cheap/centrally located/pretty gross

If you don’t mind wearing your shoes in your room,this hotel is cheap,centrally located to everything, opera, civic center, downtown, market,good restaurants,easy travel to fisherman’s wharf, helpful staff,BUT it is only a place to lay your head. Sheets were clean, bathroom clean, paper thin walls,filthy outside, lock all the door lcoks, but it appeared everyone knew this place is only for sleeping. Think "the heart of the city tenement"!

For the budget minded

Very small room but the bed was very comfy and the room was very clean. The location was great and fairly quiet.

It was my 2nd time in this hotel...

...and I will go back again. Very good rate for the room you get. Hotel is clean, location is ok (lots of buses in the area) and the staff is really nice.

Great value in San Francisco

Excellent value for the price paid

Clean, comfortable hotel, and a great value!

I was pleasantly suprised that this hotel was rather elegant for the price. It was obvious that the room had not been completley remodeled, but it was very nice. Very clean and all the basic ammenities. In walking distance of many attractions, and in San Francisco, it’s always better to walk so you can really see the city! Would definetley recommend to others, especially if you don’t have lots of money but want a nice, comfortable hotel. Also, secure free parking helps to save on trying to park in the city while still knowing your car is safe. Staff was very friendly but not extremley helpfull.

You get what you pay for

The mattress on the bed was so hard I felt like I was sleping on a box spring and the hotel ran out of pilliows. For what I paid for the room though I didn’t expect too much. A cheap one nighter, wouldn’t sleep there for more then that.
