good.. not great but good

Great room, but the buffet that others claim is so GREAT is not. It consist of pieces of melon and a couple of types of bread. It is not what anyone should consider a breakfast but should instead be a lite snack. They were a little slow at the front desk but they have express checkout/check in service so you dont really have to deal with the desk crew... who were very nice but slow none the less. The location was AWESOME, very outside the traffic issues of the city but still close enough to pop in and out of downtown Boston.

Traveler's tip on dining

Skip Legal Seafood, I read all types of raving reviews and was suckered into going to this place. The service was horrible and the food wasnt that grand. Almost ruined my 5th wedding anniversary :(. I was VERY disappointed. Also, lobster was more expensive and not as tasty as the places in Indiana, still trying to figure that one out.

Excellent hotel at reasonable price in Boston suburb

The room was comfortable, modern and well furnished by US standards with a large separate seating area and workdesk - plus a nice view of the suburbs and a big flatscreen tv. The complimentary breakfast was fine, although the place was a bit crowded in the morning. The free wireless internet connection in the room worked flawlessly. Staff was efficient and very helpful. The coffee machine in the room was broken, but staff immediately came to the room and provided a replacement. Otherwise everything was in perfect order and sparkling clean. The small coffe shop in the lobby is very convenient with a limited but sufficient selection. During our stay we left our rental car in the secured underground parking lot provided free by the hotel and took the metro downtown. Hotel offers a free shuttle service to/from the nearest metro station, but we just took the public bus to the station. The bus stops in front of the hotel every 30 minutes during the day and every hour other times. The surrounding area seemed nice with a selection of shops and eateries, but we didn’t explore it further. Overall this hotel offers very good value for money at the top of its class. We were very satisfied and gladly recommends the hotel to other travlelers, who can do without a downtown location.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Don’t take your car downtown. Get a metro pass instead, which provides unlimited travel on metro and buses.

Directions were difficult

While we enjoyed the Hyatt in Medford once we found it, we had a very hard time following mapquest directions. It would be helpful if directions were sent through expedia since there are so many small streets involved.

Good for Price

This hotel is pretty good for the price, especially because you get free breakfast and parking. The pool is good too, not big but the kids loved it. The first floor is nice, but when you take the elevator to go to your room, you will notice a difference. The carpet and room need updating and they weren’t really clean. I had to clean some dust off. The room I first slept in had mole and the AC was so dirty that dust and bad odor will come out when I turn it on. I told the host and they put me in another room which was much better. The staff was very nice. I thought is was the best deal close to Boston if you don’t want to spend much. I especially like the free parking, but if you don’t mind spending more money, then stay in a more expensive hotel in Boston.

Great location, spacious rooms

Pros: - great location right off the highway, about 15 minute drive to downtown. very convenient to general boston area - free underground, secure parking - free breakfast and the food was decent! - rooms are very spacious and setup is nice with a sitting area and sleeping area - very nice front desk staff - very helpful and cheery during check in/out process Cons: - could be cleaner as there were hairs all over the bathroom area that was not ours! - bathroom area could be bigger - needs a better hotel gym - 2 treadmills is NOT a fitness center. they did have a nice indoor pool that I did not use though

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Stay here vs. downtown boston if you have a car. Parking is great and it is very conveniently located.

Great Stay

This is a very nice hotel outside of Boston, however it takes quite a while on the T-Line to get into the City. Also, the T-Station is NOT within walking distance of the hotel and their shuttle service ends at 9:00pm.

Comfortable and convenient in Medford

We stayed at this hotel for a college visit to Tufts. Parking is on site in a secure garage. Our room was large and pleasant, suite-style with a shoji screen separating sleeping from lounging areas. Nicely sized indoor pool, nice breakfast, though only cold items (fruit, breads, cereal) were included. Hot items could be purchased for an additional fee. Friendly staff. Clean, quiet and plenty dark enough for good sleeping.

Great hotel for larger families

The Hyatt Place in Medford Mass was a great choice for our family of 5. It provided enough space to relax after a long day of sighseeing in Boston. With children aged 10, 13, and 16, it is difficult for us to fit in a standard hotel room anymore but the Hyatt Place was perfect size to accomadate our needs. The hotel was very busy so breakfast produced long lines so either go early or late but 8:30am - 9:00am is a zoo. Would stay again if ever in Boston.

Great Place to Stay!

The only problem I found was that either the cleaning service did not vacuum the floor or the vacuum was broken because there seemed to be quite a few long black hairs all over the floor of our room. We have light blonde hair, and I found these hairs all around me when I was excercizing. It was gross. Other than that it was a great place to stay.

Cost was Reasonable

The hotel staff at the desk were very pleasant and knowledgeable. The rooms were nice and spacious even for a family of five, with the exception of the bathroom which was a bit cramped. The breakfast was okay with cereal, yogurt, toast, etc. and nice to have on-site. . . It beat having to go somewhere.

The hotel is located a bit outside the city of Boston. We first drove downtown and parked (expensive). The next day we took the subway. The hotel shuttle to and from the subway station is not always available so you need to figure out the bus system which goes by the hotel.

Right Outside Boston!

We were pleasantly surprised with our hotel stay at the Medford/Boston Hyatt! The hotel was an easy 5 minute drive from downtown Boston. We were a little bit worried because it seemed to be located in a remote residential area, but once we drove around, we realized it was conveniently located to a lot! The hotel room was large and easily accomodated our family of six! The complimentary breakfast was wonderful each morning, and the staff was very helpful. The indoor pool was a bonus although the strong chlorine smell was a bit much for me. I would highly recommend this hotel if you don’t want to stay right down town due to the high cost of those hotels.

Will probably be back

Our family visited Boston over 4th of July weekend. We decided to stay at the Hyatt based on the hotel’s amenities and price. When we arrived we were pressed for time to make our appointment for the Duck Boat tour. A friendly staff member printed out directions and quickly got us on our way. What a life saver! Our room was comfortable and well equipped. However, there was no hair dryer in the room, so bring your own if you need one. The pool was cloudy and the chemicals seemed to be off. The breakfast was basic, but free - so can’t complain. There are Dunkin Donuts galore all over the area so getting a coffee fix in Boston is not really an issue. Getting around was easy. We did not use the hotel provided shuttle but chose to park at the Wellington station for the T. It is close by and easy to find and parking was only $5 a day. If you are going to be out later at night beyond the shuttle service, I recommend it. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and next time we visit Boston I would definitely consider returning to the Hyatt. You really can’t beat the value!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

While staying at the Hyatt take the time to walk up the street and visit the bakery. The desserts are to die for!!

Budget hotel

The three of us shared a two queen bed room and enjoyed out stay there a lot, except for the basin, which was not located in the bath room together with the shower and toilet, but in the actual hotel room, which did not leave much privacy. But other than that everything was fine!

Can’t wait to go back

This hotel was wonderful. I loved mostly everything about it. The staff was fantastic. They were very helpful. The room was super comfortable. The price was perfect. The shuttle to the train or other areas close to the hotel was wonderful. I would love to stay there again when I return to Boston area.

Good Hotel

This was a nice hotel to stay in. It offered breakfast in the morning. It was yogurt, fruit, toast, cereal, bagels, etc. You could order food to be made like eggs, bacon, hash browns, for an extra fee. The staff was super nice. The rooms were nice too. The only downfall was that it was not close to the Boston’s transportation system. They had a free shuttle that would take you to and from the T station. We used this a lot. It runs from 7am until 9pm. Once you got off at the stop then you would have to call the hotel and have them send the shuttle to pick you up. You could wait at the stop for 20-40 minutes waiting. So if you want to stay downtown later than you have to get a cab.

Great Place To Stay, Short Drive From Boston

We booked 2 connecting rooms for our family of 6 adults, which gave us alot of space and comfort. The room was comfortable, stylish and well-maintained. The service at the reception was one of the best we’ve seen to date. The spread at breakfast was wonderful, with free flow of Starbucks beverages, served at a cosy but roomy breakfast area. Downtown Boston and Cambridge are only a short drive away from Medford.

Big room - something odd.

Room was large, pull out couch, sink, refrig. Nice, but a refurbished feeling. TV on wall between sitting area and beds - didn’t swing to face the couch. Pool water was cool, couldn’t use it. Health center was about the size of a kitchen with 3 cardio machines and no other equipment. From the pictures, I thought I would get good use out of the fitness center & pool area, but was disappointed. For the price, you can’t beat the room with a suite-like living room, clean & comfortable. Don’t buy the $5 rip-off coffee in the lobby! Best price / value in the area. Free parking in the underground lot was excellent. Good if you have a car, but didn’t see the Metro near-by.

Traveler's tip

FREE parking, best price in area for spacious room, don’t expect much from pool / fitness center. Other hotels in area are close to a Metro, otherwise you have to drive and pay for parking.
