would stay again

This hotel does not look like much on the out side but the staff was very friendly. Our room was a bit small but very clean and comfortable. Had a fridge/microwave. The bathroom was remodeled and very nice. We didnt spend much time in the room so it was perfect for us. Resturants and bars close by. City transportation is the best way to get around.

City transporation is the best. Make sure to ride the cable cars.

Good value and location

Definitely does not have curb appeal but once inside the room itself is small but nicely furnished and very clean. There was a coffee maker and microfridge and the usual amnenities. Location is good with many options for food/drink within an easy walking distance. Parking is limited so once parked, you might consider leaving the car and taking public transportation or walking. In the evening, the neighboring restaurant uses the parking lot for delivery vehicles which are continually going out. This makes for the loud street noise even louder.

Really good staff

The staff was great. We wanted to stay another night and they gave us the expedia rate. They were very helpful with telling us the bus routes and how to get around.

Take the bus and leave your car parked. It is much cheaper and you don’t have to look or pay for parking.

we had a problem with the room .the clerk found us another room and called expedia to let them know we werent able to stay there. everyone was great would go back and good food close by mels diner the greatest

Great Location

This place has a great location, close to restaurants, entertainment, etc. However, it’s been around forever. I stayed there on my 21st birthday and that was 36 years ago! The sheets, towels and pillows need to be updated, but it was clean and quiet after 11 pm.

Good Location

On busy road, we had alot of road noise and the ice machine was broken. Good location of town to stay.

WHAT A NICE SURPRISE !!!

i WASN’T REALLY SURE ABOUT STAYING AT THIS HOTEL BECAUSE I THOUGHT MAYBE WE WERE GOING TO GET WHAT WE PAID FOR. TO MY SURPRISE IT WAS A VERY COMFORTABLE ROOM,WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED, A VERY QUIET PLACE AND THE GUY AT THE DESK WAS SUPER NICE. I REALLY CAN’T WAIT TO GO BACK THERE AGAIN.

Perfect for the Budget Traveller

This hotel is in a perfect location for walking to the golden gate bridge, the presidio, or tons of cafes, wine bars and restaurants. Nothing deluxe about the accommodations but it was clean and at this price, you can afford to spend your savings on some great California wine! The staff at the front desk were super helpful. This was a great deal and we would go back there anytime.

We did an all day walk right from our Hotel that included crossing the GG bridge, having a coffee in Sausilito, taking the ferry to Fishermans Terminal and walking back to the hotel via crazy Lombard Street.

A Real Surprise

Judging from the outside my wife and I were, at first, very worried about this hotel when we saw it. However, we were quite surprised to find a real diamond in the rough!!! There was one mix-up with our reservation. We had booked a king size bed through Expedia.com which we verified by our receipt. However, we were assigned two queen beds. The hotel was fully booked so we were stuck with what we got. All in all not a big deal for us. Once we got into our room we were very surprised to find a modern, clean and quite comfortable room, complete with crown molding and granite counters. Best of all is that it came with FREE parking!!! It was a great location in the city with a short drive or bus ride to Fisherman’s Wharf. The bus station is just one block behind the hotel. The street directly behind the hotel is Chestnut. It had several great restaurants and a Walgreen’s which was a real convenience! I guess I would have to say I have stayed in nicer but for vacationing on a tighter budget than we were used to this was an excellent place to stay.

It was hard to find an inexpensive hotel that is both clean and has a free parking. I found the right one! Customer service was great as well.

good hotel with reasonable price

The hotel locates in a good area. Close to beach and golden gate. A lot of nice restaurants around the hotel. it is very convenient to take bus to Union square and other interest points. the price is reasonable comparing to other hotels in S.F. The hotel provides free parking that no other hotels in S.F. offered.

Not a bad location, but horrible bed and you can hear everything

The bed was so hard you might as well have been sleeping on the floor. The walls are so thin I thought the ceiling was going to cave in when the people above me got in their room and you can hear everthing from the traffic to the people talking and doing other things next door. The price was ok, but I wouldn’t stay there again.

Great SF Place To Stay

This hotel, on Lombard Street, was great! Helpful staff - Home Plate Restaurant (3 shops down} served great, outstanding, wonderful food. Walking distance to Marina District - major shops - restaurants, theaters, etc. Will stay here again!

Cheap but noisy

Had drunken ex-frat boys staying in the room next door. Walls are paper-thin so we could hear every drunken moment. Fortunately someone called the manager before we did. Still, this is a noisy hotel. Bring your ear plugs.

OK but not special

Room and amenities were okay, but nothing special. Good eating options are available within a 2 or 3 minute walk.

grungy looking, but an okay stay

From the outside, this hotel didn’t look so great, but our room was clean and comfortable. We had all the things we needed (microwave, fridge, a/c, coffeemaker, hair dryer, etc.) and the beds were comfortable. The hotel staff was nice and helpful when we arrived. The parking truly is limited, but the staff helped us find a place. My only complaint was that our remote control didn’t work properly, but no big deal as when you go to San Francisco, you probably aren’t going for the hotels.

Good location

This is an old fashioned motel. Parking is extremely tight. Staff is friendly, room was clean. Good location near buses and walk to the Marina & Fort Mason.

Make sure to take a walk over the Golden Gate Bridge it’s really special but dress warmly!

The location was great - close to sights & buses

We thought the location was perfect, the price was right for our budget, it was clean & comfortable. No problem getting around town, there was a great coffee/donut shop just around the corner and Mel’s Drive-In up the street for our breakfasts! We were happy with our choice.

Get the city pass for the bus & cable car it’s worth it!

great location

hotel staff were very helpful. location to city bus service to downtown and wharf was excellent. chose hotel to be close to Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon start and finish line and it worked perfectly. although location a plus, the location is on a busy street and the noise from the street could easily be heard inside the room.

great location if you’re doing the escape from alcatraz triathlon. BUT if you drive, be prepared to lose your parking spot. the pizza place next door must have some agreement with the hotel to allow their delivery vehicles (sometimes 4 at a time) to use the very limited parking spaces. Use the city transit system.
