The room was small but clean. Minimal extras. Parking difficult. Surrounding area not that nice. It was not a continental breakfast but a coffee machine with a few donuts. We asked to get a light fixed over our sink but it never happened. I would not stay here again.

good location,bad service

a room served without soap,condishiner and other bath staff,after a conversation with hotel staff,nothing changed for 3 days we been there.phone didn’t work also for 3 days location is very good,close to bus station and fisherman’s wharf

good comfortable place for the money

hotel was clean. beds very comfortable. room on the small size and small parking lot. Alot of traffic noise since its right on Lombard Street. Nice location though.. plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Great area but hotel not so

The outside looked well maintained, but the inside was a little shabby. The phone didn’t work and when we notified them they said, "We know." Also, the soap dispenser was totally empty. We had to ask for soap!! Parking was also a little iffy-very tight spots and not enough parking for everyone. Good thing we got there early and didn’t take our car out. The area was great with lots of great restaurants and shops, but I would stay some place else next time. Izzy’s was a really good restaurant and literally right around the corner.

Good location

Good in general, room and bathroom were clean, good location and nice and helpfull staff. What we were not impressed were lack of parking places and "continental breakfast" which should include more than one muffin per person, coffe and OJ.

It was ok

I thought for the money spent, I expected more. Arrive early to get a parking slot only enough for 20 spaces.

Decent Hotel, very limited parking

Nice little motel in a good neighborhood in the Marina district. Easy walk to many shops and restaurants (make sure to visit Pluto one block away). Unfortunately they have very few parking spaces, and they are first come first serve. That was a cause of aggregation for us we had to park in the paid garage two blocks away when spaces were full. Other than that not a good choice if you can get a good rate. The deluxe queen room I stayed in was very spacious and clean, although the other cheaper rooms were much smaller and less attractive.

Worthwhile considering the price

Our overall experience at America’s Best was a good one. Our main complaint was the lack of parking, there were about 15 spaces for the entire building. After those spaces are gone, you are stuck with metered parking on the streets. Our room didn’t have a remote, but one was eventually brought to us after calling the front desk several times. The tv had barely any channels and the image flickered. I also left some clothes in the room, that I called about later and was told that they were not found. Despite this, the room was still decently priced for the area that it is in.

Don’t leave you’re parking space after 7 PM and expect to have one when you return. Also, lots of great restaurants in walking distance.

Simple yet Suffice

The hotel was a few blocks from everything which was exactly what I wanted location, location, location! I actually got very lost since I had never been to San Fransisco and when I called they were more then helpful and guided me all the way to the hotel. They gave me suggestions on where to go and what I could do on my vacation. Their customer service was impeccable.

If you just need a place to rest your head and spend the majority of your time out and above, for the cost and patronage this is the place for you.

Good situation Not really clean and a very bad welcolming

great little find in the middle of everything!

Updated rooms, comfortable bed, large tub, in room sauna, desk with chair, another chair, good heat/ac, tv. Not much of anything for breakfast but lots of options in walking distance. Beautiful neighborhoods close by. Limited free parking. Vending machines on 3 floors with old elevator. Friendly staff. Daily room cleaning.

Ok to stay if this is the only thing in your price range

If you can afford better, by all means go for it, if this is within your budget go ahead and stay. Free parking is a plus and front desk staff was polite. Entire hotel needs upgrading but nothing scary either.

great location

This was perfectly located to walk to Fisherman’s Wharf and the Exploratorium. The free parking was great. The air conditioning unit in our room was not quite up to the task and the room was small, but it was clean and quiet. No wash cloths the first day, but they showed up the next day. There were lots of fun shops and restaurants in this area and we enjoyed the neighborhood.

Get there very early or the free parking is taken. You can walk everywhere or take a cab or the bus- so we just left our car in the garage the entire time we were there.

Don’t make the same mistake we made.

Said "limited parking". We found that there were 40 rooms, 20 spaces. Had to park on the street all 7 nights. Floors are wood. Heard the noise from above tenants all night. "Continental breakfast" consisted of juice, coffee and stale muffens. Never again.

Lots of other motels in the area. Try another one, don’t make the same mistake we made.

Excellent Hotel Staff

The front desk staff was excellent. Very friendly and helpful. Not a bad location, easy access to public transportation...and you can’t beat the free parking!

Our experience was very good. Management and Staff was very accommodating. Late night arrival - no problem. Room was clean and ready for use as booked. I called ahead, talked with Manager to assure the room and parking would be available. It was a good experience when a room and rest was needed. I will go back!

Would Consider going back

Good for the price, free parking is a plus. Room was clean and staf was friendly. With in a block of a bus stop Cons No soap in bathroom and high trafic noise.

cheap, excellent location

This hotel is in an excellent location - a nice walk up the crooked part of Lombard, many choices of restaurants and bars within walking distance, jamba juice, starbucks and donut shop right around the corner. Muni stop down the block. It was a 2 mile walk to fishermans wharf, but it went fast. I had my car there, but never had to use it, which was lucky, because parking was limited. For the price, it was well worth it. Not lux by any means, but fit, form and functional.

Great service, good location, decent room.

We decided to flee the Sacramento heat for the week-end and booked this hotel in the Marina neighborhood. Although Lombard is very busy, our room was at the end of the U-shaped parking lot and was quiet enough. The area is great for strolling this part of the city that mixes residential, coastal and trendy pockets. The staff was very helpful, they offered to move us into a room with a fridge and a micro-wave when they realized we had a 4-month old baby with us. The room was a bit outdated with holes (?) in the floor underneath the carpet but overall acceptable. A good pick at a good price for a short getaway.

To keep the kids busy: we spent some time at a tiny beach (probably not even there at high tide) stuck between the large beach and the big building behind the marina. It was empty and my 3-year old loved running back and forth along it in a couple of inches of water. The large beach just west of there was fine but crowded and swarming with unleashed dogs (apparently legal). Also, a nice playground at Moscone Recreation Center 3 blocks east.

not bad for the price

it was not bad. i could not get there till late and by the time i got there the parking was overflowingm,fortunately i had their suite room with the sauna and owner allowed me to park in front of the main door of the hotel, so for the price and free parking well worth it!!!!!!!

Great value if you can keep your expectations low

They provided just what we wanted - affordability and cleanliness. Yes, it was on a busy street, yes, we had to return to the desk for a t.v. remote, and yes, the furnishings were dated (but not dirty or scary). The hotel is fabulously situated near plenty of restaurants & shops for some good city walking. For me, that yields greater satisfaction than paying $50/night more for a better bed.

we’ve made a good choice!

The hotel staff is very nice. Very friendly and helpful. They helped us in getting the most from San Francisco by assisting us in booking the best tours. Our vacation became much more smoother and easier. The quality of the hotel itself is good. We cant expect more as compared to the good price we got.Its worth it!

If u love to walk, this hotel is good for u. Its not too far from Fisherman’s Wharf. We even walked to China Town and Union Square. Its tiring, but it was the best experience i ever had. But, the hotel staff will help u in getting the best tour for u anyway. So, dont worry! Just relax and enjoy ur time here!

Great hotel for the price

The room was clean and service was good. The hotel is really close to everything and it was nice to able to just walk around downtown and see the sights. Great value for the money. There is even a movie theater around the corner.
