Can’t wait to go back.

Awesome location, hotel and super service. Everyone on the staff was very courteous and helpful. Our main requirement was a quiet room and for 6 days and night it was very quiet even though the hotel was sold out on at least two nights. Being right beside the cable car turnaround was a major plus for me. Thank you Argonaut.

Fantastic Location!

Kind of snooty front desk people the night we arrived. Other than that all was perfect. The valet and bell staff were extremely helpful in pointing out local emenities.

October is a great month to be in San Francisco -great weather, less tourists

Okay

All was okay here but didn’t care for the lack of ventilation in the bathroom. There was no fan just a vent opening in the ceiling. When we took showers everything fogged up including the room! Called it in to the desk and never heard anything further????

Class and comfort; would definitely return.

The best hotel right across from Fisherman’s Wharf is also one block from the cable car line. My husband and I arrived on a Saturday afternoon for a two night stay. Service was friendly and responsive to our needs. Front desk is cordial and competent and the concierge was very helpful with dinner suggestions and reservations. We had a 4th floor, inside room, yet there is still a large window that lets in much light. Rooms and bathroom are comfortable and big enough; NOT cramped. The evening wine hour in the lobby is very nice. One ’don’t’: DON’T park overnight at the hotel as it is very expensive. There is a parking garage at about half the price right around the corner from the hotel. Have fun!

Location-Location-Location

What a great location...you can walk to just about everything that makes San Francisco so unique...love the nautical theme of the hotel and their clam chowder is top on the list! Every evening a wine reception is held in the lobby, great place to mingle with guests and sample great wines! We will definitely stay there again!

Traveler's tip on dining

Definitely go to Nonna Rosa for crab! And of course, Napa Valley and Sonoma a ’must’ if you are in SF...

No what we expected

The hotel itself seemed nice, until we got to our room. I was expecting a four star hotel, when what we got was a small underground room. the hotel boasted views. all we saw were peoples feet and small children peering thru our window. the room barely fit the queen size bed in it. it was the last room in the hall next to the house keeping room.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Take a tour bus, the fare last for 48 hours and runs all day. Saves on cab fare, with a history lesson.

Fisherman Wharf’s Best Hotel

I’ve stayed at this hotel twice this year and both times it’s been awesome. Great service, helpful doormen, good restaurant, fabulous happy hour (free wine), charming nautical decor, excellent location (across the street from the cable car, across the street from wharf area). Only downside was price for valet parking: around $46 per night -- ouch!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Don’t have a car unless it can’t be helped...parking’s difficult to find (or pricey, if you find it). There’s great public transportation.

Great spot - great service

I recently stayed at the Argonaut on vacation in SF. The service was excellent - and the hotel in a perfect spot for what we wanted to do (biking across the bridge, visiting sausilito, riding the trolleys). The amenities are up to par with Kimpton standards - which I have become a loyal fan of. The only surprise was the layout of the lobby - which wasn’t as inviting/comfy as others I’ve stayed in - especially for the happy hour wine reception. There were far too many people for the facilities. overall - great time.

A Gem in Fisherman’s Wharf

Among the many hotels to choose from in Fisherman’s Wharf, the Argonaut stood out among the crowd due to its location and price points. Once checked in, it suprisingly offered a wonderfully themed atmosphere reminscint of a stay at a Disney Resort. The location is everything expected. It is in close proximity to the street car to go to Union Square, multiple bus stops, and--of course--Fisherman’s Wharf. "The Blazing Saddle" bike shop is right next to the hotel entrance, making it easily accessible to rent a bike, go across the Golden Gate Bridge, and return it conveniently. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. During the time of this review, there was a wine reception during the evening hours. As a result, as come travelers were checking in, they were also greeted with a complimentary glass of wine. Wine aside, when asked for dining recommendations, the staff never missed a beat and responded quickly and effectively based on what mood you’re in. Overall impressed with the hotel. When compared with other lodging, there are a few short comings. The room size is a bit smaller, but with the ornamental decorations, its very easily overlooked. Also for some reason there was no fan in the bathroom. In order to battle fog from a hot shower, the a/c had to be turned on.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Bike across the bridge early, if you’re interested and reserve the local curiosities (Ripley’s / Wax Museum) for later, as they’re open a bit later than other attractions.

Nice location but not impressed

I did enjoy staying at this hotel because it was so close to everything. I picked this hotel because we flew up. Parking anywhere in SF is expensive. The wine hour is also very enjoyable to just sit and relax with a few glasses of wine. However, I did not appreciate getting charged again for my room by the hotel when I had already prepaid for it. It was fixed a few day after I noticed, but it should not have happened in the first place. The room was nice but small and there was no view whatsoever.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Try the restaurant’s crab chowewr soup. It’s really good.

Excellent Location

My mom and I took the kids to the Argonaut for a leisure trip to San Francisco. The location is excellent. Lots things to do within walking distance and close to many types of transportation. The hotel was stylish, clean and quite and the accomodations were very comfortable. My kids loved the Wii in the lobby, and the fish we received for our room. Rice A Roni hill and the trolley is right around the corner, and the Maritime Museum is directly across the street, great double deck bus tour is also around the corner, as is Giradelli Square. The only downside was that our double room was a little small. That is the only negative thing that I have to say. I would definitely recommend the Argonaut.

Great Hotel

Perfect location on the wharf with easy access to attractions, restaurants and the trolley. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only meal we ate at the hotel was breakfast and it was delicious. I will definitely stay at the Argonaut on my next visit to San Francisco.

Pet & Kid Friendly - and great for grownups too!

The Argonaut is in a terrific location, several blocks away from the Fisherman’s Wharf crowds, but just a short block to the Hyde cable car turnaround and the Buena Vista cafe. The hotel is both pet-friendly (big dogs too!) and kid-friendly (Wii in lobby). Big park with beach across the street is great for both.

Very impressed

The Hotel is located on fishermans wharf. The Trolley cars run right outside the hotel and were easy to get to. Just up the hill is Lombard street. The trolley actually pauses there for riders to jump on and off. Also near the property is Gheradeli (spelling) square. Which was no big deal. On a clear day you can see the Golden Gate bridge from the propety. We braved the public transportation system to get to the bridge which was awesome and exciting. You can drive to the bridge but we decided to be more daring. We did not eat at the hotel simply because we wanted to eat on the Wharf. The staff is very friendly and the property itself is beautiful. I would highly recommend this property but be advised you do pay extra for parking which is not included in the hotel rate.

Traveler's tip on dining

There was an Italian restaurant in front of the hotel that was very romantic and intimate with superb food- Can’t remember the name. Also most of the restaurants that serve crab (which we love) charge an arm and a leg for one medium sized whole crab that could not even sustain my big toe. When eating on the wharf near the open air cafe’s beware of the birds- Seagulls and pigeons have no fear of humans..
