While clean enough the accommodation is very tired and is right alongside a busy road and the window wouldn't close. The bathroom is very cramped and would not suit the larger person. At the price breakfast really should be included. We've stayed at far nicer accommodation for nearly half the price and with breakfast included. Previous occupants of our room had used the kettle as a teapot and, while not the act itself is not hosts fault, we found stale tea and teabags in the kettle when we came to use it. Also, be aware that if you would like to walk into the town centre or the castle, it's a long uphill climb back to the property. This didn't worry us but wouldn't suit others. Knowing it is essentially a pub with rooms, we weren't expecting hotel standards. Our room was comfortable, spotlessly clean, perhaps the bathroom needs a revamp but it was perfectly adequate. Breakfast was superb - a very hearty full English which set us up for the day. We ate there both evenings too. Due to Covid19 there was a limited menu but the food was good - very generous portions! Susan and team were very welcoming, friendly and helpful.
