This part of Japan is very popular with tourists. To understand why, take a trip to the other fascinating natural and cultural attractions surrounding Amakusa. You'll also find Unzen, 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the south, and Yatsushiro 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the west.
Nagasaki is about 25 miles (40 kilometers) from Amakusa. This regional center has a number of interesting things to see, like Nagasaki Museum of History and Culture, Nyoko-do Hermitage and Suwa Shrine.
