Definitely take a day trip to Abu Simbel. Do go on a traditional Felucca ride. Go on the boat for a ride to the Philae temple and also to see the high dam.

i felt Aswan overall was cleaner and safer than Cairo or Luxor. Stayed just the night after tour to Abu Simbel but would definitely return to see more!

The city is interesting with good archeological sites in the city or nearby, the souc ( open street market) is big, safe and very interesting to visit, if you can stay at the old cataracts hotel or at least visit it.
