“Our recent stay at Host El's cottage couldn't have been any sweeter - from our initial communication with her via email/text to getting a tour of the place upon our arrival, every corner was a sign that the property was deeply cared for; original 1940's fixtures in the home with eclectic art, plants, picturesque patio chairs facing the nearby Hutchins Lake and it's subsequent sunsets, plus personal touches all over made what otherwise was a too-fast weekend getaway feel all the more like home....

“This home was the perfect place for a quiet, lowkey weekend with friends. The property was very clean and even with it being so hot and humid, the bugs were hardly noticeable. Plenty of space and beds for 7 adults”

“We were able to relax on the generous deck. The kitchen was functional for many to visit and work at the same time The large family room with couches was great for watching the World Cup on the huge TV, disappointing as the outcome was. The many bedrooms accommodated our large family very well.”

“We love this spot and will come back, either in the Fall to sit around the fire on the patio or next year for Blueberry season. The stars at night were lovely. You're close to Douglas/Saugatuck and can enjoy all they have to offer but return 'home' for quiet evenings and mornings (with a lovely rooster next door). The goodies were much appreciated! On the next visit, we want to tour the artist studio :) ”

“3 families occupied the space. Our kids were in a competition in Battle Creek over the weekend. The kids loved running and playing on the property including using the bikes that are in the garage. The town of Portage is not far and has all you need for groceries, etc. The property is quiet, with hardly any trafic. I really appreciate the owners communication. Being able to reach out to him personally gave us peace of mind. ”
