This place was SO perfect for our son's graduation . We avoided the high prices in Fayetteville and it was a short drive to the activities there. The Inn gives a charming European hostel vibe with such a sweet and helpful hostess who gave us recommendations for short hikes and walks around the area, to a local swimming hole and to the farmers market. Wonderful sitting areas.

It was different for sure. We are used to regular hotels. But we did enjoy stay. It was kind of weird the first night though. We were the only ones there the first night. But all in all it was a good stay for us

Housekeeping was below what I expected. There dust bunnies under the bed and dead bugs on the sills. The breakfast items were minimal and dated-coffee beans were 2 years old. Very roomy and quiet since we were the only ones there. Very good bathroom facilities.

Great hotel

Great stay!! We would definitely stay here again. The bed was very comfortable. We didn’t see or experience any ghosts but it definitely has some spookiness to it. If you are looking for a different kind of experience this is the place

An adventure to remember

We had the most interesting an friendly stay at B & L. It was like staying in a curated historic boarding house. Leslie the owner/manager/decorator/"tour guide", was so helpful and patience with our group of 10 friends. each room was themed after a part of her family heritage and experiences. I highly recommend staying there.

What a beguiling mix of eccentricity and sharp esthetic sensibility. The details can be odd, but they are all clearly connected by the couple's personalities. My room (Middle Eastern) was bright and comfortable. Last night, I appeared to be alone in the place, with its proximity to potentially menacing dolls in a crib (and deep, looming shadows down the entryway). Things might well have gotten spooky (and if I had the $$ and a production crew, this would be an amazing location for an indie-horror flick!) Instead, because the vibe was so clean and the aura so well-manicured, it was a perfectly tranquil, restful evening.

Great historical charm. Felt like we were back in time. Beds were great. The history of the furniture was fantastic but needed an update. The art was very authentic to the time period but Not a fan of the creepy dolls. We did notice a lot of dead bugs around the windows and on the bathroom floors. Parking was confusing. People were there around 9:30p.m.moving things in and out of the store below. We would have liked a list of amenities and things to do as it was very far away from everything. The restaurants and shops in the area were all closed. More of a gathering place for large groups but a little intimidating if you’re staying on your own. Thank you for adding the interesting experience to our list of Arkansas adventures.

This is a fabulous property. Built in 1887 and still has that historic feel. The owners are awesome and did a great job renovating the building. You must know that it has a large shared bathroom area, no bathrooms in individual rooms. This wasn’t a problem for us but something to be aware of. The bathrooms are well designed and still private spaces just not in your room. The beds are outrageously comfortable and the best towels I’ve ever used. There are no TVs anywhere and this allowed for a nice break and forced game and reading time. This is a must stay at place!

This is an historic building that has been restored and upgraded. It is quaint, charming and off the beaten path in the beautiful Boston Mountains in the Ozarks. Chester in on an old rail line that ran North/South along the Northwestern border of Arkansas from Van Buren to Fayetteville (Woo Pig Sooie). The rail line was the major transportation line until US highway 71 was built. The highway bypassed Chester so its economy collapsed and left this old boarding house/inn to languish until the folks who own it now have it restored. Now the new Interstate 49 runs by and it has had an impact on all the little towns along the old highway 71, but Chester can now be easily accessed by an off ramp. If you want an experience on your way to a Razorback football or basketball game, try it out. If you like a cookie cutter motel, this place is not it!

I read previous reviews that talked about noises, creaking of the wood floors, and how you can hear everything through the walls. Please keep in mind this is an AUTHENTIC 1800'S HOTEL. The owners have definitely did a very good job at preserving that authenticity. I stayed in room 4, the children's room. I opened the drawer and found a white noise machine ( along with a headless bride doll) that i utilized during my stay. I was the only one there (i think) until about 11pm. I slept like a baby and probably snored like a lumber jack and my apologies to the other guest. Beds were very comfy , the air was cold, and the shower was perfect,. Even though they were communal, they were still provided privacy. Overall a wonderful experience. I will say that the website mentioned a small staff to which I personally never saw, and the breakfast consisted of granola bars and instant grits so if your not a fan of those, bring your own. They have an impressive full kitchen there you can utilize.. I also loved the outdoor spaces there for sitting.
