"Had a great time with friends last night. We all said the hotel was very good and we would come back. The inside looks like it has been renovated recently and they are in the process of renovating the outside with scaffolding up at the moment. The room was great with a massive comfortable bed. I would say the only comments about the shower room is that the shower head needs replacing and the window was a bit tired and wasn’t possible to open it for ventilation and there didn’t seem to be a working fan. The breakfast was lovely and very well cooked with plenty of choice on both the hot and cold sides of the buffet. Overall great."

"I had a great stay as a solo traveller for work; I had a slight issue before I was due to arrive but the team were brilliant and sorted it for me. The room was great and looks recently renovated, and the bar downstairs was perfect for a drink and evening meal. I'll certainly stay again when im next in Whitby."

"The Argyle was a lovely guest house. A good walk to the front, but enjoyable. I couldn't comment on the staff, because there weren't any! All booked online, keys and car parking disc, left in an envelope at the door. Very difficult to get in touch with the owners if you needed anything. Too impersonal for me, I like a meet and greet."

"A good, clean property with a spacious room. King sized bed roomy but mattress a little soft (but just my preference for a harder mattress). Bathroom very spacious with a bath as well as a shower (I prefer a bath). The owner upgraded us to this room free of charge so that was a lovely gesture. We found the decor a little old fashioned-again not quite our style. Biscuits accompanied our tea/coffee making facilities, a nice touch, but only normal tea and coffee, no herbal teas offered. On arrival the owner told us about the parking permit (very good value £5 for 2days) although we had already put money in a meter across the road from the property so had we known about this beforehand we would not have paid at the meter unnecessarily. (Perhaps I had missed reading such useful info in the blurb beforehand?) The breakfast was very tasty and plentiful although I would have like a croissant and/or pan au chocolat to be offered."

"Spotlessly clean. Great cooked English breakfast. 4 star hotel. Great location. £5 on street parking permit for two nights stay, more available if you are staying longer. Comfortable rooms and beds. Sleek system of operation, if you don't have breakfast the chances are you won't see the owners, but try and see them, as they are a lovely couple. We wood definitely come again."

"Lovely little boutique hotel run by super friendly hosts. The rooms are quite something and the place is chock full of eccentric vintage finds, it has real character. We had a deep, luxurious bath in our room and the vintage glass bottle of bubble bath was a nice touch. We had the breakfast (veggie continental) one morning and it was delicious, lots of fresh little picky bits to eat and drink. It’s up on the cliffs with a lovely view of the abbey but still an easy walk into town. Just sad we didn’t get to try the cocktail bar!"
