"Lovely cottage close to town centre. It’s has a private back yard perfect for evening drinks. Nice spacious bedrooms and bathroom. Beautiful view of the abbey from the top floor. Fully equipped kitchen. Owners very helpful. Situated in a quiet street with zone parking (provided) not too far away or a pay and display very close by. This is our second time in Penrith house and I’m sure we’ll be back! "

"The room was great for our needs, very spacious with comfortable beds and a large bathroom. I was holidaying with my teenage granddaughter and the twin beds gave us plenty of room. It was about a 10 minute walk to the harbour (anout 30 minutes to walk back, it's a very steep hill! Dont believe google maps that says mostly flat!) There is a bus stop outside the hotel but we didn't use it. However, on our last evenung we had a taxi and it was £4.50."

"A servicable place to sleep but the upkeep needs looking into. The double bed was broken and sagging on arrival which didn't get fixed until the next day, and the paint in the living room is peeling as well as the (very small) shower room having mould from previous guests not ventalating it while showering. This accomodation is also unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues because the stair cases are more like ladders.If you just need a place to sleep and store your stuff then its fine."

"Location was hard to find, had to ask someone in a local shop. It is not accessible and up cobbled steps. We had two dogs and a 6 month old in a pram so that was difficult to navigate. The yard space was okay to let the dogs out and there is a gate but it was always being left open by others so if you have dogs who like to run off, this is not good. The property itself - it did the job. It was somewhere to sleep however not somewhere I think would be comfortable to stay in all day or for long-term as it is cramped. The fridge wasn’t clean and there was a lot of cobwebs throughout the property. You can see downstairs in between the floorboards on the middle floor which made me feel uneasy. Bathroom was good although again could have been cleaned to a better standard. The bedroom on the top floor does not have a door so bear that in mind. I would not be comfortable in this property with small children who can walk as the staircases aren’t very safe - carpet coming up on the actual stairs, wallpaper coming off the wall, winding, creaky staircase. The worst thing about this property is the constant and overwhelming smell of fish and chips. You wake up to the smell of battered fish, and go to bed smelling it. Even with the windows and window vents closed. This was a real issue for me as I have an extremely sensitive nose and made me vomit throughout my stay. I’m unsure how the owners could resolve this issue however. Overall, not bad for the price but I wouldn’t stay here again."

"We stayed for two nights with our two children to explore Whitby. The cottage is fantastic! Really nicely furnished and well equipped and lovely to look out over the harbour and across to the abbey. The location is brilliant, right by the harbourside but still feels nice and peaceful in the cottage."
