$11 Car Rental Zona 14

After you've ticked off the amazing attractions in Zona 14, there's a lot more to explore in the surrounding region. Collect the keys to a rental car, throw your bags in the trunk and get out on the open road. We've pulled together some drives we think you'll enjoy:

• Head to Quetzaltenango for a fun-filled sightseeing adventure. About 70 miles from Zona 14, it's home to loads of cool attractions, including Quetzaltenango Central Park.
• Why not see the wonders of Santiago Atitlan too? Unmissable tourist attractions in this colorful city include Atitlan Volcano. Santiago Atitlan is 50 miles from Zona 14.
• Get into nature and take in the serenity at Rio Dulce. You'll find it around 130 miles from Zona 14.

If you don't possess a driver's license issued in Guatemala, then you may need to get an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence to be allowed to rent a car. Also consider that if you do need an IDP, it has no validity on its own. You'll need to show your driver's license from your home country your passport and other forms of documentation as well. Lastly, make sure the credit card used to book the rental vehicle matches the name on your driver's license and passport. Some additional requirements for international car rentals are:

• Age restrictions: You'll need to be at least 25 in most places to rent a car. If you're younger than that, it might still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to what kinds of cars you can rent.
• Driving limitations: Be sure to read the rules and regulations before getting behind the wheel. Typically, you can't cross country borders, drive on ferries or off road with your rental car.
