$15 Car Rental Zona 9

After you've been to all of the amazing attractions in Zona 9, there's more to see in the surrounding region. Grab the keys to a rental car, pack your bags in the trunk and hit the road. We've pulled together some drives you're sure to enjoy:

• Head to Quetzaltenango for a fun-filled sightseeing adventure. Roughly 70 miles from Zona 9, it's home to tons of cool attractions, including Quetzaltenango Central Park.
• Your next pit stop? Santiago Atitlan, which is around 45 miles away. Atitlan Volcano is one local hot spot you really shouldn't miss.
• Rio Dulce is approximately 130 miles from Zona 9 and is one of the region's most beautiful nature spots. Go for a wander around and enjoy the fresh air.

If you don't have a driver's license issued in Guatemala, then you may need to acquire an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country to be allowed to rent a car. It's also important to note that if you do need an IDP, it has no validity on its own. You'll have to show your driver's license from your home country your passport and other forms of documentation as well. Lastly, it's important that the credit card you used to book the rental matches the name on your license and passport. Some additional requirements to rent a car internationally are:

• Age restrictions: You need to be 25 or over in many countries to rent a car. If you're younger, it may still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to what kinds of cars you can rent.
• Driving limitations: Be sure to read the fine print before driving away. You typically can't cross country borders, drive onto ferries or go off-roading with a rental vehicle.
