We generally enjoyed our stay at Lanelay Hall. We were surprised that it sits in the middle of a newish housing estate, but that didn’t make too much difference while you’re there. The inside of the hotel is beautiful and very tastefully designed. The staff were very friendly and we had a lovely welsh tapas meal in the restaurant.
On the down side the pool was cold when we went for a swim. Plus you have to walk through a busy bar in your robes to get to the spa/pool, which is very embarrassing.
Our room (44) was lovely but it had adjoining doors to room next to it. Although these were locked they weren’t very soundproof and we were woken by the screaming baby staying next door several times!
Breakfast the next morning was really tasty, although a little on the pricey side at £15 each. We were annoyed to queue for 15 mins to checkout because there is only one person and one computer doing checkouts. When I asked she said it was like this everyday at checkout time, which would beg the question of why don’t they do something about. Stagger the checkout times or get some else helping or something. Seemed a bit crazy.
But overall a really nice stay, they just need to fix some minor but irritating issues.
