The gentleman who checked me in was really pleasant and helpful. I was only staying one night but the room was clean and had everything necessary. Decent shower.
Adequate but a very slippery slope to terrible
Proximity to town is great; an easy 10 min walk up the hill going past plenty of grocery shops and take away places. However, the hotel is at the bum end of town, next to a Kwik Fit and tends to attract questionable characters, day and night, who sit on the steps outside rolling up and hanging out.
The reception was unmanned but the welcome, when finally checked in, was warm and friendly. The room was at the back so no road noise. Comfy double bed but it was two singles bolted together so the duvet barely met the sides. Sheets may have been clean but there was a burn hole. The room has seen better days; general wear and tear, a crack in the sink, previous water damage indicated by the slight mouldy smell and visible by the staining on the ceiling, main door, spongey floor and the bathroom door’s inability to shut. Other niggles include: only one bedside lamp which had no lightbulb, a flickering fire exit sign and no pump dispenser in the complimentary shower gel,
All complaints about the room must be made within half an hour of check in and therein lies the bigger problem for the above is not obvious until bedtime.Add to this the smashed panel on the side entrance door of the hotel (the door also didn’t close securely) the fire exit being blocked by rolls of carpet offcuts and carpet runners running along the hallway all adds up to a place that is not worth the price to stay and it wasn’t cheaper than any other hotel.

We had a lovely stay very comfortable and lovely customer service
Rooms facing road very hot in afternoon. Luckily could open windows a bit and allow the cooler evening breeze in, so had to use ear plugs to deaden the noise from the street both car and humans

Stay okay - Service poor
Stay was okay.
Did not receive a receipt which is disappointing.
Can’t do business expense claim without a receipt so called hotel. Still not seen a receipt.
Easily the worst hotel I have stayed at in a very very long time. Room was freezing cold, had to, more or less beg for some form of heating (Fan heater supplied eventually), no food, no bar, no breakfast, no wake up call (staff don't arrive until 09.00 hours), room very grubby & on need of TLC
A slightly broken toilet seat (offset) in maintained. A shower dial that was really hard to adjust. Which would have been fine but the evening was ruined by me finding stains under the bed sheet including small black peice and hair. For £95 I felt like I had been robbed. Really disgusting . I travel slot for work and put up with alot. But a dirty bed is unacceptable. This is the first time I leave a bad review. I have a photo for evidence but the app is not allowing me to upload

Never Again!
On arrival and after we had checked in and given our room we were told there was going to be a party on our 1st night.
We had no advance warning of this or any email to let us know.
The music/noise was very loud and was still going on at past 1 o clock in the morning. We tried to call reception many times and it was closed. On telling them at the desk the next day they didnt seem to care.
If we had been forewarned we would have made other arrangements or been prepared.
The room was small and dated. The carpet hadn't been hoovered and there were sweet sticky bits all over it.
For the price we paid we could have stayed elsewhere.
I booked a hotel room for a US university student staying in Colchester. When she arrived at the property at 9 pm (one hour after the booking was accepted), she had to bang on the door and wait 10-15 minutes for someone to admit her. She was shown to a room and discovered as soon as the person left that the door would not close completely, so it would not lock. Obviously a dangerous situation. She tried calling the front desk and walking down there. No one was available to help her.
She had to leave the hotel (not what she wanted to do) and go to another. The hotel did not respond to email requests for a refund and has denied the refund.
DO NOT BOOK HERE IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL SAFETY OR MINIMUM LEVELS OF CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Disgraceful. Booked pay at hotel only to get a notification from my banknyheyd tried to take a random amount of £85 out of my bank with no authority. Spoke to the guy on the desk and he was blasé and uninterested. Got to my room and it wasn’t cleaned. Bed still left from previous guest. Again complained and was told it wasn’t his fault. Given a twin room and one of the beds was messy. Tv don’t work properly. Absolutely disgraceful. I do not recommend this place in any way. Have they forgotten about COVID. I would say a massive yes. No customer care and dirty
the Hotel looks like it has been built or refurbed very recently and the Beds are really comfortable ( Firm Mattress and pillows). The rooms are tastefully equipped and all worked as it should.
The hotel is right on the edge of the town so plenty of places within a short walk to eat and drink.
The car park is a decent enough size and is well lit at the rear of the hotel.
Disappointed with our stay, for the price the room was pretty dirty and had several issues. Upon entering reception I had to present my ID which a photo was taken on an iPhone? Not sure why. I asked to book two breakfasts for the next morning at 7am, this was a deciding factor when I first made the reservation as my partner was leaving for work at 7:30am and I had seen online that breakfast was from 7am-9am which was ideal. I was told that this was not possible due to covid, and that the staff don’t like to come in that early?! But it states 7am still online and even in the rooms? We had to go and buy breakfast cereal and milk from the shop, however there was no fridge to put the milk in. I tried to put it in the sink in cold water, but the sink tap would only run hot water. I called and asked if we could have two bowls and spoons in the room, the bottom bowl was dirty inside. There was no hand towel nor floor mat, and the floor became dangerously slippery. Two towels were left on the bed, one had marks all over it, and when I pulled back the duvet there appeared to be two dirty shoe prints on the bottom sheet (towards the bottom corner). The room was stuffy when we entered, and my partner tried to open the windows- which are covered in condensation (right window) dust and cobwebs. The left window right latch will not open and the safety cord was just left dangling - assumed that this is the reason one of the window latches is locked? Chair is also wobbly and dangerous.
From the outside we were not sure what to expect from this hotel but very pleasantly surprised. Close to town centre so an easy walk in, on-site parking, free WiFi, really comfortable rooms: booked the double deluxe as really wanted a bath but upon arrival found we were upgraded free to a large family room.
Breakfast was nice, continental options and cereal set out buffet style along with help yourself tea, coffee and juice. Full English or Indian breakfast cooked to order.
All staff we interacted with were friendly and welcoming, couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Thank you
