"Very nice property. Our room was quite spacious. It is about a twenty minute, flat walk to the downtown Bayeux. We used this area as a good mid point to visit the D-Day Beaches, Honfleur , Mont St Michel etc."

You can spend time studying the exhibits at D-Day Wrecks Museum during your trip to Commes. Check out the stunning cathedral and top-notch restaurants in this walkable area.
This tiny Norman village captivates with its ancient stone church and sweeping views of the English Channel coastline. Hike the coastal paths to spot seabirds, then sample local cider at nearby Bayeux's traditional farms.
Absolutely stunning. Quiet, beautiful grounds (friendly grounds keeper, Lee). Very welcoming staff, anything you needed. Rooms spectacular. Felt very much in the French countryside. Would have stayed for at least 2 nights maybe 3 to enjoy the property and spend time exploring the beaches and small towns. Highly recommend. Loved our time.

What is there not to like about Le Clos. Steps away from Omaha beach. About a mile or two from the American cemetery. D-day history everywhere. A very nice place to stay, quiet, clean and secluded. Fresh homemade pastries in the morning. The only negative is that darn rooster in the morning, which was not their fault. Caroline and her husband did everything to help us on our trip. They gave us maps, information for nice restaurants, and other things to do for the 75th anniversary of D-day. ...

Beautifully restored 12th century chateau. Modern bathroom inserted into period bedroom with antique furniture. Beds comfortable, adequate lighting, and nice tv. Over the top breakfast with everything one can imagine. Chef/owner prepared dinner by reservation smelled incredible, wished we had known in advance. Good location for Normandy, D-Day tours, and Bayeux Tapestry Museum.

I gave this hotel a five-star rating in every category without hesitation. I can honestly say that this is one of the finest hotels I've ever stayed in. No detail is left unattended, no question by staff or request unanswered, no disappointment in food quality, and obviously, no maintenance deferred in the facility or spacious grounds and rooms. This is a sign of outstanding management and careful selection of staff. I heartily recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to get away from the...

This is a charming hotel within walk of the shoreline and the nearby village. The proprietor could not have been nicer or friendlier. He made it clear he was there to serve his guests and he did so with warmth, friendliness, and efficiency. We were a family of four, and when he realized the two children with my wife and me were adults he moved us into two separate rooms rather than the single "family" room we had booked. And he did this without our requesting it and at no extra charge! If you...

We had a wonderful stay at this B&B. It was a charming and quiet location in the Normandy region. We were able to travel to the various historical attractions in the area easily without having to stay in the heart of a city. Our room was very spacious, including the bathroom, and clean. The hosts at the B&B were very kind and considerate. And, the best part was the delicious and fresh breakfast every morning.

Beautiful property located 5 minutes from the city of Bayeux. This city has some nice reasonable priced places to eat, the famous tapestry that is 70 feet and a large cathedral. D day beaches about 30 minutes away max and of course the museums. Utah,Omaha,Point du hoc.
Prices on site are very high but if you don't mind driving into town it's not a problem. Front desk gentlemen when we checked in spoke good English and was very accommodating.

Cute grounds, quiet, right downtown, amazing friendly staff, extremely clean and comfortable room, immaculate hotel recently renovated...all while being extremely reasonably priced. Makes me want this hotel to follow me around France when I return so I can have his experience the entire trip.

The Hotel Chateau de Bellefontaine truly lives up to its reputation. Our taxi entered through the iron gate into a relaxing environment. We were greeted by a flock of ducks, geese and swans. Seating provided postcard views of the grounds and distant church steeples. We were greeted as if family coming for a visit. After a brief check-in we were taken to our room on the top floor. It was a generous size with a window overlooking the back lawn. The bath provided two sinks so getting ready for each...

The reviews we read were right! This was an amazing stay. This little farm is much prettier, more picturesque, and overall more lovely than the pictures could possibly suggest. After a long day of walking and sightseeing, this hotel put us right at ease. The staff was friendly, the restaurant was wonderful, and the room was perfection. The room's are wonderfully decorated in an old French style. Every amenity is available from a hairdryer, coffee maker, sitting area, to spa quality shampoos...

Travelled alone and had a wonderful stay. Access code was provided for late check-in. There is limited parking and a €5 daily fee to park inside the gates but enough parking for free just outside. Cozy guesthouse and had a fantastic room with double bed and huge bathroom. Outside space is perfect for warm weather stays. Continental breakfast is included and served by very welcoming hosts. So much thanks to making my stay in Normandy wonderful!
Florence is an incredible host. Her guidance provided us with so much insight of Arromanches and beyond.
Our accommodations were amazing! Our suite that allowed us to be serenaded to the sound of the waves of the Normandy Coast through the double hung windows of this beautiful nineteenth century manoir.
Breakfast was a must as we were woken to the aroma of fresh baked croissants and the sound of vintage 1940's music.

Charming stay in a beautiful, classical manse in Bayeaux in the Normandy region. Though not in Bayeux town, the location is convenient for a full-day D-Day experience (my reason for visiting). The owner recommended a great place for dinner and provided home-made apricot and red currant confitures, both lovely with croissants and breads.

The property is beautifully landscaped, full of flowers. The themed rooms are clever: I stayed in the room called “Dog Tags”. The sport shower is awesome! You can add a breakfast, charmingly served in a metal footlocker. You get a thermos of hot coffee, hot milk, orange juice, cold milk, petits pots de yaourt, baguettes, croissants, butter and jam. The property is located next door to the Overlord Museum and walking distance to the American Cemetery.

The best area to stay in Commes is in the heart of the village, particularly around the Church of Notre-Dame.
This central part of Commes offers a quiet, traditional Norman village experience. It's characterized by its stone buildings and narrow lanes, providing a pleasant setting for a relaxed stay. The village is small and easily walkable, with the Commes River flowing nearby.
Couples looking for a serene and picturesque base will find this area ideal. It offers easy access to local walking paths and the peaceful countryside, while still being a short drive from the historic sites of the D-Day beaches.
For travelers who appreciate a more rural setting with convenient access to the coast, staying a little further out from the village center, towards Port-en-Bessin-Huppain, offers a blend of countryside tranquility and proximity to the sea.
