There was a big loud tour bus offloading at the same time, and the young woman at the front desk was so considerate and gracious — without asking, she guided us off to the side and checked us in ahead of the group. "Our stay at Ptarmigan Cottage was truly wonderful. Nestled in a peaceful and picturesque setting near a welcoming local pub and just a short walk from the train station, it offered the perfect balance of tranquility and convenience. One of our group arrived by train from England, and having the station so close made things incredibly easy.The cottage itself was beautifully equipped, with all the modern comforts we could ask for, including cozy beds and soft linens. But what really made it special was the setting. Surrounded by stunning scenery, we found ourselves constantly captivated by the view from the window. The bird feeders just outside added an extra touch of charm - a delight for everyone especially the bird lovers!Portnellan served as the perfect base for exploring the area. We took day trips to Stirling, Fort William, Oban, and even made it out to the magical islands of Mull and Iona. Yet no matter where the day took us, it was always a pleasure to return to the peace and comfort of the cottage in the evenings. It felt like a true retreat in the heart of Scotland’s natural beauty.The booking process and communication from Cameron before and after our stay was second to none. We are beyond happy to give this location a 5-star review and if we ever get back to Scotland, we already know exactly where to stay."
