![For Can Tho, the largest city in Vietnam's Mekong Delta area, I booked a day tour with Susan, a 26-year-old woman (with perfect English!) from a nearby village. For four hours we biked around Binh Minh (just outside of Can Tho), where we visited beautiful temples, rice fields, and a local market. We then went back to the riverside location for a night in a homestay. I would highly recommend booking with Susan for an authentic Mekong Delta experience. "We had a fantastic night at the Coco Farmstay. The owners were welcoming and helpful, cooked us a delicious (and enormous!) meal, and we were able to hire bikes the next morning to explore the coconut plantations and waterways of the surrounding area. It's in a beautiful location - about a 10 minute taxi from Ben Tre, but well worth the few £'s it costs to get there. A really tranquil and peaceful spot, unlike anything else you'll find in the Delta. The only downside was the storm overnight...

"The good stuff - transfer from HCM, polite and helpful staff, great selection at breakfast, beach across the road, a well-equipped gym and a lovely rooftop pool. The not so good - huge influx of families on Friday evening so over the weekend there were children running up and down corridors, late at night and early morming. There also seems to be a design issue with the balcony railings. When it's very windy they vibrate and make a terrible noise - it's like being in a wind tunnel. When I spoke to reception about it, they offered me earbuds. "

"Close to excellent; accessibility constraints held back a star. Up front, you need to know that there are significant stairs to climb. Some are made of uneven stone, are outdoors, and get wet and can be slippery. We were first given a room on the top floor but we could not stay there as it was too exhausting for us to climb up and down. A younger crowd will likely love the challenge. The manager and staff were gracious and quickly moved us to a more accessible level. That was fine for us but this resort is not for everyone because of its setting. That said, it is well worth the effort to stay here if you can. The setting including the challenges are part of this place’s charm. The views of the sea from the rooms and property are spectacular! Breakfast is very good and a variety of fresh tropical fruit is served every morning, and you can have some dishes cooked to order. The pool is awesome and looks like photo. As with most places in Vung Tau, you may want to rent a small moto (shout-out to John’s Bikes), or take grab. There is a nice place for coffee plastic chairs along the small road from the resort near the pagoda, run by an energetic proprietor. Pro tip: her nephew is John of John’s Bikes and she can have it arranged to have a rental bike dropped off right there while you have your coffee enjoying the sea view."
