"Wonderful experience! A stately & historical large ryokan nested on the eastern hill slope of Gero town. My second stay at this ryokan & will continue to stay there next time I am in Gero. Very good vista of the town in the morning or evening. Very large garden & landscape, with tall tress & seasonal flower trees.or bushes.. a beautiful & varied feast for the eyes & senses if one come at different seasons... Has its own hotel museum to showcase it's checkered history & early artifacts, etc....

"There was an exceptional housekeeper (Ms. Yamashita) making the room with a personalized touch; one yukata set on the bed I slept and new glasses on coasters where I used on the desk instead of putting all original places. "This is a wonderful place to spend a few days. The ryokan is very authentically Japanese. The staff was helpful wherever we needed them. The food Is good, though our best meals were in restaurants in Takayama. Most of all, the hot springs are AWESOME. The water is so thick with minerals, so rich. We didn’t want to leave."

"We had a wonderful time at this ryokan. We chose this inn specifically for its remote location and traditional atmosphere and were not disappointed. The hotel, outdoor onsen, and woodsy surroundings were all excellent. The building is old and reminded me of the railroad lodges of the western United States: creaky old doors and floors, metal keys, and rotary dial phones.
