“We had a wonderful time at this ryokan. We chose this inn specifically for its remote location and traditional atmosphere and were not disappointed. The hotel, outdoor onsen, and woodsy surroundings were all excellent. The building is old and reminded me of the railroad lodges of the western United States: creaky old doors and floors, metal keys, and rotary dial phones. "It's very close to the bus station, so it was perfect for getting there. The staff are very attentive and offer many amenities. What we didn't like was that when we checked out, they charged us an extra fee for “use of the bathroom,” although the staff said it was a charge for being foreigners, which makes no sense. They should have warned us about this when we made the reservation."
