Our flight was delayed in Edinburgh and I knew that we would be arriving at the property after midnight. I phoned and messaged the property repeatedly to ask whether I would still be able to collect our key if we arrived in the middle of the night. No answer. Expedia also phoned repeatedly on our behalf. No answer. Their website said they had a 24 hour reception desk but nobody responded.
When we arrived at 1:30 am, the desk was empty and dark. We rang the bell repeatedly for a few minutes and thought we would have to find another hotel. Just as we were about to leave, a man emerged from somewhere (looked like had been sleeping) and let us in. We said we had been repeatedly messaging about our later arrival and he said he thought he had seen our message. Why then didn’t he answer? We finally got a message from the property the next morning that we can indeed arrive late and we would be able to collect our key. 😒
