"Lovely homely hotel, friendly staff.. Stepped off train, right into hotel.. Noise from passing trains didn't bother us even with window open all night.. Room compact but everything we needed.. Shower only cold water in morning but staff member apologised & got someone on to it.. Food in bar amazing & breakfast so tasty, 1 of best we've ever had.. Will defo be back.."

"A lovely hotel run by lovely staff. We were in the apartment which was fully kitted out and a pleasant place to spend the night. Didn't have tea there, but came back for some delicious puddings, and breakfast was tasty and filling. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel, and plan to return. Excellent value for money."

It is a family owned and run Hotel and you could not wish for better attention or Help.No it is not 5 star but the Staff make up for the Minor faults. thank you all for a Very Pleasant stay. "The castle is very unique experience (and authentic) and Robbie is a real character (in the best way possible)! Breakfast was excellent with a range of options. The room and bed was very comfy. You absolutely feel like you are going back in time. Would stay again. Also the walk down to the beach is worth the wee 2 minute walk as there are some amazing rounded beach pebbles to collect."

"Our fist visit to Montrose. Lovely hotel which met all our needs in terms of friendliness, cleanliness, amenities and location. We had a very plentiful, tasty breakfast. Great atmosphere in the evening when there was a live band and a busy function suite. Have already recommended this hotel and this town to friends."

"Compact apartment with everything needed for a short stay. Hot water is good & hot. Good Fish and Chip shop around the corner (had the Haddock with chips and curry which was delicious and a good portion size) and a sandwich bar that serves breakfast items too (bacon butties recommended). Really good bakers across the road with numerous choices. Close to Montrose town centre and beach and on the way in from Dundee and the North. Benefit of Netflix on site and free WiFi. Accommodation is 3A which confused us initially as said apartment 3 on booking details. Soon sorted out. All in all a great stay with great communication from Kelly, our host. We will be back."
