"The owner welcomed us and explained all the details. The room was a little cramped with 4 and unfortunately very hot, but beds were very comforable and plenty of bedding and fresh towels provided, as well as helpful simple little extras such as shower gel and tissues. I like that a poster politely asks that people save energy (helping to reduce their bills and therefore cost for customers) by switching off lights etc. when leaving the room. "Room has been upgraded with a new mattress, and wallpaper that looked like it had been installed by an amateur! A complete mess!
Toilet seat was hanging off the bowl, you couldn’t sit on it without it hurling you sideways!
Soap? Well that was dispensed in 2 tiny packets
Shower - held 7’ in the air just the head no slider.. 18” above the shower screen?
Bathroom was freezing due to a duct in the ceiling that let cold air in - and removed any warm air that we circulated in there via a sliding...

The staff was extremely concerned with our well being and have offered a very nice commercial gesture to compensate for the lack of hot water in our room. Our room faced the city of Gien and the view was really great. One just have to walk accross a bridge to reach the interesting sidewalk with restaurants on the other side of the Loire. I prefer that view (Castle of Anne de Beaujeu) from the one the hotels on the other side of the rriver would have. Highly recommended hotel.

This was the perfect hotel for our stay near friends who recently moved to the area. The couple who run the hotel were terrific, helpful, personable, and efficient. We had dinner one evening at the hotel, and really enjoyed it. We especially appreciated the electric car charging point for our car. It worked seamlessly and the rate was very competitive using a credit card.

This property operates as a 2-3 room B&B in a large old manor house between Vezelay and Fontainebleau. We had a very large quiet room in the two flights up attic on the third floor. The bath was modern and the bed comfortable. We pre-arranged for four course dinner which the proprietress cooked and served. The grounds were remarkable, with a small river running through and lots of flowers.

Poor communication with the booking. No one was available when we arrived. After several calls we were given a room number with the key inside the room. The owners were not English speakers.
