The Clayton Hotel Glasglow is a great option when staying in Glasglow. The hotel is clean and modern. There is a bar and restaurant in the hotel. The location is excellent and one block to the pedestrian shopping area on Buchanan. It is walkable to both train stations as well as the bus station. It is a quick walk to George Square to pick up the Hop On, Hop Off buses as well as the location to meet our walking tour. The staff at the hotel was extremely helpful and professional. Honestly, I took off one star because the pump bottles they use in the shower for body wash and shampoo seem to be a minor, but annoying problem. We checked in and out three times during our trip because we were traveling outside the city for various activities. Each room we checked into had problems with the pump bottles. Again, this is a minor inconvenience. As far as the hotel itself, it is an excellent choice when in Glasgow.

Great location, wonderful staff (shout out to Martin who helped whenever needed). Quiet room upgraded to face the river- perfect. Breakfast could be better. But it was okay. Baked goods not buttery— supplied by the nearby Lidl?— and not much choice of cheese, no fish. But adequate and we found it was extremely easy to get around town from this hotel.

We enjoyed our room. It’s a tricky hotel to enter if you have luggage because you have to haul it up some steps. When we checked in we were instructed to go down the stairs and through the lounge to get to our elevator. When we asked if there was an elevator to bring us down so we didn’t have to haul our luggage down a bunch of stairs, we were told no. So it wasn’t a good first Impression. Our room itself was lovely and they have late night room service which we found very convenient. The next day someone else was working reception and was instructing a new group how to access the elevators down to the lounge as they were in the same wing as us. So I think it was the person who checked us in that didn’t give us that option even though there were two of us and 5 suitcases. We managed though and after that we did enjoy our stay.
