“Very comfy room, with a hot shower. Nicely decorated with lots of lamps providing pleasant lighting, with armchairs to loll in and read. Quite a grand building, with interesting decor throughout; paperback books in shelves. Breakfast was very good too.”

“Clean and tidy hotel, very warm welcome at front reception. Lovely to be handed a proper door key rather than a digital keycard. Swimming pool small but clean and warm temperature and the hot tub was delightful. Great access to local pedestrianised shopping area.”

“It was difficult to find the hotel parking as we arrived at night, but OK once we got our bearings. The hotel room is huge, but looking a bit tired. I loved that I could have a bath, as this facility is missing in so many hotels now! Our room was on the street front so it was noisy from traffic, despite double glazing. The beds were very comfortable though and there was a good supply of tea, coffee etc but no teaspoons!”

“Radiators in the room must have been for decoration, there was no heating on a freezing cold night, owners must have known this because on arrival we were handed a tiny fan heater, which made little difference in a big room. Toilet wasnt clean, bathroom light didnt work initially, towels weren't provided until I went to reception and asked for them, bed was uncomfortable. Genuinely glad I didn't pay a huge amount for the room because it is one of the worst stays I've had. Only 2 stars instead of...

“This was an immaculately clean and comfortable stay. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating. The restaurant had a good choice and the chef clearly takes pride in his food- great quality and lots of choice. The breakfast included traditional ootions but also good quality food. We loved the location and would highly recommend the Queens for an overnight or longer stay. We also brought out dog and we were all made to feel very welcome. ”

“Super clean room, was nicely designed & a warm welcome. Had dinner at the restaurant which unfortunately the service wasn’t great really slow & forgot one of our parties meal & drinks order (I would understand if it was super busy but it wasn’t) but they were friendly in general couldn’t fault that. The hotel was lovely giving really cosy vibes & the receptionist was lovely. Would recommend & the surrounding area is really nice for walks. ”

“We recently stayed at this lovely cottage in Carlisle with my two children and had an amazing time. The place was spotless, cosy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The cottage had a lovely big garden with beautiful views, and there were some great walks nearby which we all enjoyed. The host was welcoming and made sure everything was just right. We would definitely love to return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!”
