“Dianne went out of her way to be helpful at all steps of our stay. Great parking facilities, great shower, comfy bed. Everything needed was provided and well thought through. We were able to arrange to collect the keys early as we were due at a wedding and Dianne went out of her way to help us arrange a taxi booking to and from the venue nearby. Breakfast was varied and plentiful.”

“Some people were born to host. Maurice & Laureen have created a very special B&B experience for anyone lucky enough to stay. It feels more like a boutique 5* hotel with attention to detail and luxury furnishings. The highlight of my stay was the beautiful breakfast of refreshing creamy pot with fruit compote, followed by muffin with perfectly poached eggs, spinach, homemade hollandaise sauce, chives and roast tomatoes. “Quirky place to stay! Lovely big room for our family of four, in peaceful surroundings next to a ruined castle and 10 minutes from Hadrians Wall! Friendly staff and nice home cooked food for dinner and breakfast!”

“It’s a premier inn Self check in seemed ok a bit impersonal On arrival we were early and no power in hotel but all good we returned later It’s on a courtyard shared with sainsbury Penrith itself isn’t very inviting but the hotel is ok”

“A great one night stay on my way up to Scotland. Fabulous hospitality and made to feel very welcome. Had a peaceful night's sleep. Janice cooks a mean omelette for breakfast and enjoyed my packed lunch. Lovely estuary walking and lots of nature reserves in the area. Would stay again if in the area.”

“Delightful visit to The George and Dragon! Friendly and obliging staff, great pub, room and breakfast. Rooms renovated to a high standard and beautifully furnished. Loved the windows which could be opened to cool the room and bonus bath to relax in. Friendly bar staff when we had a drink in the pub before bed and lovely lady served us at breakfast. Really impressed and highly recommend a stay. 10/10”

“This was a charming place to stay. There were sheep in the field outside our window. There were cookies and tea things in our room. There was a nice common room/library with lots of maps and guide books. We had a delicious full Scottish breakfast in the morning. We'd love to stay there again!”

“I needed an overnight stay en route to scotland . Cartref was easy to get to from M6 and felt clean and cosy. Traffic was a little noisy ( I had to open window due to heatwave) but the host thoughtfully supplied earplugs as well as various other "extras " for myself and the dog. Shared bathroom was clean and easily accessible. I would recommend Cartref if visiting Carlisle or just passing through and i would certainly consider staying here again if in the area.”
