For a Guildford vacation package, public transport can be sufficient for exploring the central district, which is easily walkable though hilly. Local buses provide good coverage within the town and to nearby communities. However, as Guildford is an outdoor and nature destination outside the city, a rental car offers the most flexibility for seeing the local countryside and villages, where roads are quieter.

While central Guildford's roads can experience congestion during peak periods, a car is highly practical for venturing beyond the town center to explore the wider Surrey Hills area. Taxis are also available from ranks at the railway station and other central locations, and can be booked for pickups within about a 5-mile radius of the town center. For arrivals, London Heathrow (LHR) and London Gatwick (LGW) are the primary airports serving the area.

Guildford vacation package hotels offer a range of locations, from those within easy walking distance of the town center to properties a few miles out, providing access to the surrounding nature.

For instance, the Mandolay Hotel Guildford is about a 10-minute walk from central Guildford, placing you close to shops and restaurants. Further out, The Percy Arms is about 2 miles from central Guildford, and The Drummond at Albury is about 3 miles away. These options allow travelers to choose between being in the heart of the town or enjoying a quieter setting with convenient access to the countryside.
