"Not planning on returning back to freehand. This is usually the hotel I get booked for work travel and we also have clients stay here as well. Used to really like it but the last visit wasn’t great. The guy at the front desk was annoyed at our arrival and you could tell. Not sure if that was why we got a smaller room. I’m all about interacting with another human, but if they’re going to be grumbly about checking people in then I’d rather just have a check in kiosk than feel uncomfortable. First time I’ve ever been asked for my ID and my partners ID (that wasn't the main issue just flagging) Cleanliness was okay but you can see the wear and tear in the rooms, beds were not as comfortable and reminder for those that need coffee, freehand doesn’t have coffee makers in the room, but they do remind you they have a coffee shop downstairs. Also would add that shower was lukewarm and ran cold after a few minutes. Understood it’s an older building, but we were in a rush so there wasn’t time to ask about it. For the price point, you’re better off staying elsewhere. Will be recommending we switch to a different hotel for work related travel. "

"I stayed at the Hampton Inn because it was advertised as the closest airport to EWR. It is as the crow flies but not as the car drives. It is about a 15 minute drive. There is a 24 hour airport shuttle, which was another reason I chose this hotel, however, it drops you off at the Air Train and not at a terminal. As an older traveler, I could not handle the Air Train with my bags so I took an Uber. For this reason, I would not stay here again, but I would choose a hotel where the shuttle drops you off at a terminal. The hotel is also quite noisy as it faces a freeway on ramp as cars are accelerating all night up the ramp. The rooms themselves are lovely. Best designed hotel room I have ever seen, very dark, wall thermostat instead of controls on the window unit, great bedding, compartmentalized bathroom with the sink outside the bathroom, lots of hooks to hang your stuff and STREAMING ON THE TV so you can use your Netflix! all hotels should have streaming. Also since I left at 5am in the morning, I very much appreciated the grab and go breakfast of a bagel with peanut butter, cream cheese and jam plus a piece of fruit plus a bottle of water. Mostly two thumbs up for this excellent hotel. Except for the shuttle dropping you off at the Air Train, I would stay there again."

The Highlights The hotel serves as a solid base for exploring the city. The general atmosphere and service were fine, and we found the overall accommodations to be comfortable enough for a standard city stay. Room Amenities While the room was clean, we did notice a lack of a few basic essentials that are typically standard: • Waste Management: There were no trash bags provided in the bins, which made keeping the space tidy a bit less convenient. • Toiletries: There was no shower cap included in the bathroom amenities. Facilities & Maintenance The most significant issue occurred during my morning routine. Halfway through my shower, the hot water completely cut out. Dealing with a cold shower in the middle of a New York trip was a major inconvenience and a disappointment for a hotel in this category. Final Verdict If you are looking for a reliable, "no-frills" spot that covers the basics, this hotel is a decent choice. It is an okay stay for a short trip, provided you don't mind calling down to the front desk for those small missing items."

"The property was great… until about 10pm on Thursday/Friday and Saturday night when the nightclub that is located on the 15th floor began playing their very loud club music. It went on till 2:00am.and it was so loud and you could feel the bass. When I complained to the front desk they never followed up with me."

"The hotel is centrally located. Lots of shops, restaurants and vendors! The room was clean but the view was not. We had a view of another building and its residents as well as a dog park. The dogs were cute but the barking was a bit annoying. The television kept blinking and the bathroom sink leaked for 3 of the five days. The tv was fixed immediately but the sink was a problem. The housekeeper was excellent! Not sure if I would stay there again."
