They accepted my booking when they didn’t have electricity. They told me to contact Expedia to get a refund but Expedia requires confirmation of a refund from hotel management. Expedia emailed and called them but they never responded to Expedia. I sent messages to the inn but they responded two days later by stating that I should contact Expedia. I told them Expedia is trying to contact you and they said they would reach out to Expedia. I never heard back from the inn or Expedia. I will be contacting Expedia today. They said I get an automatic refund if the property doesn’t respond to communications within 72 hours, which apparently was the case.
I understand the hurricane hit and they didn’t have power for a week. That’s fine, but then stop taking new bookings until you get power. And, be prepared to refund if patrons don’t want to stay in a place that can’t deliver what was promised online (WiFi, microwave, tv, refrigerator, A/C, hot water etc). Lack of communication for days is inexcusable.
