The Bluebird Motel

The Bluebird Motel

10/10 Excellent
"Surprisingly quiet. The room was large - a king-sized bed, a desk and a little sitting area. The toiletries were very nice. Basically, it had all I would expect from a good hotel, way more than I expected from a motel. The receptionist was helpful."

Oceanfront Cottage, Spectacular Views. Hodgkins Haven

Oceanfront Cottage, Spectacular Views. Hodgkins Haven

10/10 Excellent
"The location of this property is excellent with the best view on Pigeon Hill Bay! It's a close driving distance to numerous preserves with great hiking trails and Pigeon Hill Preserve is just a short walk up the road. The bay offers protected waters for kayaking and viewing an abundance of wildlife such as seals, bald eagles, herons and numerous other water birds. Watching the local lobster boats is also a treat. Karl, the host, keeps great communication and is happy to be contacted should there be any questions or concerns. The property is clean, appointed well and well maintaned, We've done vacation rentals for many years and this is our favorite!"

Gardner Lake Home: Amazing views private and quiet 150' of private frontage

8/10 Good
"The setting is beautiful, views across the lake and wonderful morning to mid afternoon sun. A dock and multiple outdoor places to enjoy good weather. A lovely lake. There is a family camp close by, and beach activity can get noisy. The cottage is well laid out with a dining table that looks out on the lake. Living room is spacious, also looks out on the lake. A few steps lead to the bathroom, bedroom and laundry area. Not a problem for us, but would have been good to know.Cleanliness was just OK. There was an umpleasant smell coming from one of the kitchen cabinets and an icky used sponge was by the sink when we arrived. Damp towels were in the dryer, discovered halfway through the stay. The rest overall was clean but I wouldn't call it sparkling.Although the washer and dryer worked fine, the doors of both are in need of repair. The bathroom needs towel bars and a vertical grab bar.Disliked the most: Almost zero communication with the owner. Received basic driving directions and the entrance code, that's it. No welcome message of any sort. I reached out ahead of our week long stay and received no response. No paper welcome materials or instructions. Fortunately nothing went wrong so we didn't need to get in touch but we weren't sure how we would have done that if necessary."

"This was a wonderfully secluded location! Quite a ways from the nearest larger town and extremely quiet. We really enjoyed our stay during our group trip and made a day trip into Acadia as part of our time there. Steuben and Milbridge are both very small, cute towns that are nearby. We enjoyed this being our home base for adventuring and were grateful to be outside of the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor."
