We did not have hot water. After a concert we attended, we could have stayed anywhere, but chose Argosy. When we wanted to take a shower after sweating all day at the concert, we could not. All the casino would offer is a credit of the $12 “amenity fee” which is a joke fee in the first place. No wonder they’re fine crediting it, because they know it’s a scam. $12 for “free water, wifi, $5 off a meal but the meal has to be charged to the room…” All of it was completely disappointing. We will not be going back. KC has numerous casinos.

We dined at 4 restaurants while staying in the hotel. The only 2 restaurants I do not regret trying are Red Lotus and the Parisi Cafe'. Both have a limited menu but tasty options. The Journey was very over priced. The $80 Bone in Ribeye was dry for a medium rare and the barbecue ribs were not good at all. The only thing we enjoyed from Journey was the ceasar salad. We also went to 99 hops house. The hostess was rude and turning people away from to go orders and only wanting customers to dine in. Had a burger, made wrong and so dry it couldn't be finished. Cheese curds were nothing but breading and over cooked. The hotel itself is beautiful. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. It was however still dirty from the previous guests. There was still hair on the shower walls. And dust everywhere.

Our room, the food & coffee were all great. The main reason I cannot give 5 stars is the hotels stairway policy. My wife has extreme claustrophobia to elevators so we always have to use the stairs when staying on upper floors. Our room was on the 4th floor but I didn’t think that would be a problem because I’d never had a hotel lock the ascending stairway doors. Sadly we didn’t find out about this policy until after we were checked in & had our weekend planned. Another disappointment is the spa was closed. The spa was one of the reasons I picked this hotel for our trip.
