The area around Kolbermoor is wonderfully endowed with fabulous attractions, from tourist hotspots to lesser known delights. While you are in the area, make the effort to get to Chiemsee. It's roughly 16 miles (26 kilometers) from Kolbermoor and is home to the Herrenchiemsee Castle and Herrenchiemsee Abbey. If you'd like to experience more of this part of Germany, make your way over to Bad Wiessee to visit the Iodine Sulphur Springs and Casino Bad Wiessee. Bad Wiessee is 18 miles (29 kilometers) away.
Ruhpolding, is another good place to discover. It is about 30 miles (48 kilometers) from Kolbermoor and offers a great selection of visitor attractions, for example Barthlomaus Schmucker Heritage Museum, Church of Saint George and Golf Club Ruhpolding. Ruhpolding has much of interest for travelers keen to stay for a day or two. Vita Alpina, Unternberg Ruhpolding and Ruhpolding Amusement Park are a couple of other attractions you won't want to miss.
Follow the threads of the region's rich cultural makeup at Upper Bavaria's excellent theaters, art museums and history museums. If you're looking for experiences that won't wreak havoc on the budget, why not take a little tour of Upper Bavaria's many outdoor cultural attractions such as open-air museums and gardens.
Follow your interests and book one of the city walking tours and guided nature walks. There are plenty to choose from in Upper Bavaria. No break is complete without a bit of rest and recuperation. Cycling is one of the ways they relax here. Here and bird watching is another.
