The views are astounding, the salt water pool is clean and relaxing, the fellow guests are interesting and kind, and the staff are incredible. Diana and Tomas made us feel so welcome and were so helpful while we were there. The mattress and bathroom were so comfy and modern we felt comfortable and happy to spend nights in at times. “The hotel was nice although lacking a dinner restaurant. The pool was in need of a new liner as you could feel it lift up many inches from bottom as you walked. Terrible ant problem that we notified staff about but problem persisted. Ants were covering everything within a few hours of setting things down. Needed to keep luggage and backpacks closed, food up on shelf and still had ants got in the food. Daily cleaning was thorough but needed to spray for ants to rectify the issue but for some……

“Rooms are comfortable and stuffed with needful things like fridge and television. The bathroom is a bit tiny and the bath/shower itself is vintage but usable. The personal especially at the reception desk is very helpful and friendly. Going to the breakfast, it is split in two stations - left is the fruit and cereal corner and right is the rest like intercontinental breakfast. The food is very fresh and breakfast time is as normal. The location of this nice hotel is perfect, you can walk all……

“Property was purchased by another hotel vendor who also owns Praia Marina Hotel. Upon arrival at Varandas, there is no one there at the reception. You have to walk over to Praia Marina to speak to them, then come back wait for someone to come over to check you in. If you are an elderly person or handicap this is a huge problem. Then on the evening prior to leaving, we went over to Praia Marina because no one was at Varandas, so that we could set up for a taxi to pick us up the following……

“I loved my time here. First and foremost, staff always had a smile and greeting and were ever ready to help me with any queries or bookings. The setting was intimate, with only 18 rooms, with coffee on tap every morning and hot breakfasts cooked to order. The 7.30am start also meant I was fully fed and watered before heading off on a tour, hike, boat trip, etc. My room opened up to the pool area, so I was able to benefit from that either side of the breakfast while letting the coffee kick……
