It’s important to know before you go that Death Valley Junction is essentially a ghost town. There are no stores, gas stations or restaurants in the immediate area. The hotel is a fascinating location and the story of Marta Becket is inspiring for artists. I have to grade the property on a curve: as an historic property it’s amazing. It is not, however, a modern hotel, so don’t expect much in the way of amenities. The building and the plumbing are over 100 years old, there are no phones or televisions in the rooms, and cell phone reception is nonexistent. The hotel does have WiFi, so you won’t be totally disconnected. I ultimately really enjoyed my stay, but it’s important to know what you’re getting yourself into. Also, ours was supposedly the most haunted room in the hotel, but alas we didn’t have any paranormal encounters.
