Overall, we had a good experience at The Island Resort and I would stay here again. It’s a really cool and unique property with a lot of potential, and the location is excellent. You’re right on the beach, which is definitely the biggest perk.
Our room was very clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed the pools and beach access. The drinks from the bars were good, and the pizza was surprisingly good as well.
There were, however, several things that kept this from being a 4- or 5-star experience. Check-in was very slow, and throughout our stay the staff generally wasn’t as helpful or attentive as I would have expected. The pools also had a significant amount of ants around them, which resulted in them getting all over our towels and bags.
We stayed during the off-season, so several of the advertised amenities were not open, including some of the food trucks. I understand that some amenities may have limited hours during the off-season, but it would have been helpful to have clearer information about what would and wouldn’t be available during our stay.
We also had an issue with the food. We ordered a burger one evening and it tasted spoiled, so we had to send it back. The pizza, on the other hand, was good.
Overall, I think this is a fun property in a fantastic location. It has a lot going for it, especially the beachfront setting, clean rooms, pools, and unique atmosphere. With more attentive service, better pool maintenance, and more consistent food quality, I think it could ea
