See evidence of this intriguing past in the form of the Castlefield Roman Fort of Mamucium, whose ruined walls and reconstructed gateway grace the green grounds of Castlefield Urban Heritage Park. For a change of scene, watch some of the world’s biggest bands on the stage of the Castlefield Bowl, a large open-air pavilion with a capacity for 8,000 spectators.

The district also has an eclectic range of indoor activities. Browse intriguing art exhibits in the Castlefield Gallery, which focuses on contemporary visual arts. Learn about some of Manchester’s greatest feats in the Science and Industry Museum and attend a Broadway-style musical, concert, ballet or stand-up comedy at the Manchester Opera House.

Find Castlefield in the southwestern part of central Manchester. Arrive at the Deansgate railway station or ride the tram to the Deansgate–Castlefield Tram Stop. You can also travel by bus to one of the stops here or drive and leave your car in the NCP Car Park Manchester Bridgewater Hall.
