Home to a pair of universities, Chorlton-on-Medlock is a youthful district to visit. It’s filled with cafés, bars and entertainment venues. Complementing these exciting attractions are historic sites that provide insights into the city’s past. Embark on a guided tour of the University of Manchester and attend a presentation about the campus. Admire gothic buildings overlooking the Old Quadrangle, including Whitworth Hall and the Christie Building. The former is a glorious brick building with a bulbous portico. Experience the city’s rich musical tapestry in the O2 Apollo Manchester, which has an impressive art deco building. Learn about the area’s religious history with trips to the Christ Church Moss Side and the Holy Name Church. Among the most fascinating historic buildings in the city is the Victoria Baths, with its Turkish baths and stained-glass windows. Take a tour of the old baths and attend one of the occasional events, such as a film screening or a party. Explore the Manchester Museum for its dinosaur skeletons and mummies, among other intriguing relics.

Chorlton-on-Medlock stands in the southern outskirts of central Manchester. Arrive at the Manchester Oxford Road railway station and walk south for about 10 minutes to reach its northern boundary.
