Pros: Friendly, relaxed, spacious room, location.
Cons: Fairtrade coffee and tea would show that this hotel sees itself as a modern place proud of doing good.
We just needed a space for the night after a wedding near by so we turned up late. We called ahead and they said this was no problem, explained that the night staff would be made aware of us and that the room would be ready. All was as they said and we had a lovely stay, albeit just one night. The location is pretty good, an interesting spot by the canal, and from our room we could see a massive mural on the wall of a local history museum. Room was double-glazed and quiet.

Good Bargain Hotel

Pros: Price, Location and Pool.
Cons: Cleanliness of rooms.
Location: Great neighborhood, Deansgate with music venues, bars, restaurants etc... Very close to tram and train.
This was my second stay at the Castlefield. The lobby renovations are really nice but the rooms leave a bit to be desired. The bedspread was grubby and there were massive odd looking stains on curtains and carpet. Hotel desperately needs to invest in soundproofing between rooms and from rooms to hallways. Staff really nice and helpful and pool is great. Still a good bargain and excellent location despite the lack of attention to rooms but disappointing that they haven't cleaned them up better.

Very Overpriced & Very Limited Disabled Access

1 out of 5
by from Staffordshire

Pros: The Bed was comfy.
Cons: Everything.
Location: Its very convenient for the MOSI if you are prepared to suffer staying there
Very overpriced, I paid £157 for the room + £10 for the car park (which is a bit much when you've paid over £150 for a hotel room). The disabled access is a joke, there was no way a disabled guest could get from the car park to the hotel as the security gates were either locked or too small and if you did make it through 1 of the gates it would either mean a 1/4 mile hike from the car exit or to negotiate 2 large flights of steps to get to the reception. The room was tiny & very basic with a double bed that was supposed to separate into 2 single beds but were bolted together & there wasn’t space in the room to separate them. The staff were incompetent & didn't even seem to know how to take a debit card payment, the kitchen staff took forever to do a bar snack, the bar itself was expensive and neither the bar nor room service were available late on. The breakfast was, again very basic buffet with rubbery scrambled eggs, no fried eggs and both bacon & sausages that were more disgusting than any I've ever tasted before. The whole hotel seemed to be full of rowdy drunken football fans who thought it acceptable to shout, swear, slam doors, hurl abuse at each other & generally party all night - although a manager seemed to have been called because he finally appeared to ask them to keep the noise down at 4 am Needless to say I will not be returning. Especially as it seems from reading other reviews that the overnight rowdiness seems to be a regular thing.

Pros: Facilities, location.
Cons: Air-conditioning.
Location: Canal area has lots of restaurants; opposite MOSI; near Deansgate for pubs, shopping, and movies.
The Castlefield hotel gave me a spacious, comfortable room. Friendly, efficient staff. Great location opposite the Museum of Science and Industry, and close to some excellent pubs/restaurants (the Oxnoble, Akbar's, etc.) and the canal area, as well as Deansgate.
