"A perfectly acceptable hotel, but FAR from the 8.2 or such rating we saw when booking. It's OLD and definitely in need of a renovation. The age was especially noticeable in the bathroom with bad joints, old caulk, large gaps around the tub and such. Price was decent. Food fine. Pretty clean. Overall not bad - just not excellent in any way."

Grand Bear Resort at Starved Rock

"Very disappointed with our stay at Grand Bear Resort. For the price we paid, the resort was poorly maintained and full of issues that should have been addressed long ago. The in-room fireplace did not work because the resort shuts them off starting April 1st, but this was never disclosed when booking. The whirlpool tub knobs were broken, and the only way to turn the jets on and off was by using the GFI breaker on the outlet. Which I felt was very unsafe. The bathtub also drained extremely slow when showering the bathtub would fill up with water. One of the biggest safety concerns was the third-floor window in our room opening completely with no protection to prevent someone from falling out. That felt incredibly unsafe, especially for families with children. On top of that, the blinds would not close fully, so we had to hang a towel over the window for privacy. Cleanliness and upkeep were clearly lacking. There were Hot Cheetos sitting on the elevator floor for over 24 hours before anyone cleaned them up. The ice cream from Tree Top Cafe tasted stale, and the maintenance number listed in the room actually connected to a Budget Blinds store instead of resort staff. The lazy river was tiny, the hot tub rules saying “no one under 16” were never enforced and it was constantly full of kids, and the “free” miniature golf was basically unusable because there were never any clubs available — staff said people never returned them. Quality Inn Peru near Starved Rock State Park

8/10 Good

"Check in was quick and simple. The guy at the desk was helpful. The property looked clean. The property is older and decor was out dated, but it was well kept and clean. We didn't use the pool, but it looked nice and clean. The elevator was clean and working. Our room was decent. It was very well cleaned and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The shower was great. The water was hot and had good water pressure. The only complaints about the room were that the sink faucet leaked around the handle when it was on and the tub faucet dripped (but it didn't make noise). Neither complaint effected us, really. It just was in need of repair. The property is close to many restaurants, gas stations, and Walmart which is convenient. We would stay there again if our travels brought us through the area."

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Peru - Lasalle Area by IHG

10/10 Excellent

"Room was great, pool and hottub were very nice. Breakfast was fantastic. My only issue with this stay. Was not holiday inns fault. This room was listed as a room with a private hot tub. I talked to the staff at the hotel. They havent had hot tubs in the rooms in about 4 years. Expedia keeps listing it as a private hotel tub."

10/10 Excellent

"For the price and availability the amenities were above par. The breakfast had enough options to be different for the 3 mornings we were there. There is a EV charger which I used. The staff were extremely accommodating. 5 stars"
