“I can't say enough for what a great time we had at Kakao Lodge. I was skeptical at first since I usually like staying in my chain hotels that provide all the normal American comforts. But after staying here, my mind has totally changed. You can't describe how awesome it is to be able to see a half dozen different species of exotic frogs at night, or a sloth while eating breakfast, or tropic birds singing to you in the morning. And don't forget about breakfast. Everyday, we had homemade to order……

“Absolutely loved the property! Had amazing menu items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My cabin was super cute and clean. It was so quiet that all I heard while lying in bed were howler monkeys, birds and tree frogs. The staff was so helpful and knew me by name. They even made me a sandwich for a hike I was going on for the day! Horseback riding was a blast and was reasonably priced. Wifi in the common area worked great. My only suggestions would be Wifi in the cabins and hot water but those are……

“The room was clean and spacious. The property is amazing with nature trails right outside your cabin and a beautiful garden with a talking parrot. The hotel/restaurant also has a few chickens and a turkey. The food at the restaurant was so authentic and some of the best food we ate in Costa Rica. I definitely recommend the tilapia. We ate at the restaurant for 3 of the 4 meals that we had when we were in the area because of how good and convenient it was. Would definitely recommend to anyone……
