Village Heights Resort

10/10 Excellent

"Staff were all so lovely and the property is stunning. The studios are very spacious and the amenities and restaurants are easy to book and the food was great across the board. They also have a free shuttle a few times a day to the town which is fantastic <3"

Agapi Beach Resort - Premium All Inclusive

8/10 Good

"The main advantage is that the hotel sits right next to a spacious beach with plenty of sunbeds. The food quality was excellent, but it lacked variety. We were there for over a week and found that our meal choices were similar, especially for breakfast. The dining hosts were friendly, but on some days the same or different hosts lacked warmth and didn't feel welcoming. The waiting staff were amazing and very friendly, although one gentleman was quite rude when we chose a certain spot to sit and pointed us to other available tables (without considering that it was easier for us to be seated in a quiet spot with fewer distractions for our daughter). Our room had air conditioning, but it was consistently set to a fan setting and didn't cool the room. When we questioned this at reception, they said they had changed the settings so it wouldn't cool in all guest rooms given the time of year (so all settings for every guest had to be the same and not separate, which is strange, as everyone should be able to adjust their A/C individually as they find suitable for them). The reception staff then said they would change the settings back after back-and-forth calls with the Director. For all-inclusive, note that top-brand drinks are not included as "all-inclusive" drinks, which was very disappointing. A special shout-out to the security lady on the beach who was so friendly and welcoming every time we saw her. She was so accommodating, and made the effort to say hello to our daughter."

Enorme Infinity Beach ex Infinity Blue

10/10 Excellent

"This hotel is wonderful. The food is really tastey, they have lots of variety to cater for everyone. The hotel is lovely and the staff are all really nice. It’s in a perfect location, you can walk to the beach or to some local shops or to the harbour. We didn’t need to leave the area, everything we needed was there! I gave a 4 for cleaning on the basis that some of the cleaners just pushed the dirt around, I wasn’t really sure what they were doing and we had a garden room and you could smell the pipes on some days. Other than that it was lovely."

GDM Megaron Historical Monument Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Beautiful hotel and comfortable bed We were just there one night to sleep and it was super comfortable Parking was a little harder to figure out and limited space The location is very close to The ferry and we rented a car It would have been easier maybe if we got a short taxi ride over or maybe walked and picked up our car the next day But overall very happy with the accommodations"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Myrtia?

The best area to stay in Myrtia is the village center, particularly around the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum, for its authentic feel and convenient access to local life.

The village center of Myrtia is a small, traditional Cretan village experience. It's characterized by narrow, winding streets, stone houses, and a peaceful atmosphere. The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum is the central landmark, providing insight into the famous author's life and work, and nearby you'll find a few local tavernas and small shops. This area is ideal for travelers seeking a quiet retreat and an authentic cultural experience.

For couples looking for a romantic and secluded stay, the outskirts of Myrtia village offer options with stunning vineyard views. Many accommodations here are renovated traditional homes, providing privacy and a chance to enjoy the serene Cretan landscape.

When is the best time to go to Myrtia?

The best time to visit Myrtia, Crete, is during the shoulder seasons of April to early June and September to October, offering pleasant weather without the peak summer crowds.

During these months, the weather is warm and sunny, making it ideal for exploring Myrtia's olive groves and vineyards, or for enjoying the nearby beaches without the intense heat of mid-summer. These periods are particularly well-suited for couples and travelers who enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and cycling, as the temperatures are comfortable for longer excursions.

The shoulder seasons also mean you'll find fewer visitors at popular attractions and a more relaxed pace throughout the island. This allows for a more authentic experience when dining at local tavernas or visiting historical sites like the Myrtia Museum.
