"We had a lovely time here! We were travelling by public transport, and this spot is a little of out of the way, but they sent a shuttle to the train station and it was easy to arrive. It was not clear from their website that the restaurant would not be open for dinner, and the closest restaurant by foot (other than McDonald's) was a 30 minute walk away. When is the best time to go to Nara?
For a comfortable and visually appealing visit to Nara, the best times to go are during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November).

Spring in Nara is characterized by mild temperatures and the blooming of cherry blossoms, particularly from late March to early April. This season offers pleasant weather for exploring Nara Park and its temples, with the additional beauty of the sakura. It's an ideal time for couples looking for picturesque strolls and a romantic atmosphere.

Autumn brings cooler temperatures and the stunning transformation of foliage into vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows, typically from late October to late November. The weather is crisp and clear, great for walking tours and enjoying the outdoor sights like Todai-ji Temple and Isuien Garden.
Where can I find the best nightlife in Nara?
Nara's nightlife is generally more subdued compared to larger Japanese cities, focusing on relaxed dining and intimate bars. You'll find most of the activity concentrated in a few key areas.

The area around Kintetsu Nara Station and Sanjo-dori is the most active for evening options. Here, you'll find a variety of izakayas (Japanese pubs), small restaurants, and a few bars. Many places offer local sake selections and traditional Japanese dishes. It's a good place for a casual evening meal followed by drinks.

Naramachi, the old merchant district, offers a more traditional and quiet evening experience. While not a bustling nightlife spot, you can find some charming small bars and sake establishments tucked away in renovated machiya (traditional townhouses).
