"The hotel was old and in need of a good clean and paint. Our room was everything but clean, old carpet and worse still stained mattress. Never again."

"Lovely, quiet, hotel in a residential area very close to the River Trent. Ample free parking, although the staff will need a note of your vehicle registration. Our superior king size room was fresh, modern and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable. There is an in room kettle, tea, coffee etc as well as a coffee machine with pods Although we were only there for one night there was plenty of space in the wardrobe and there were also lots of hangers - which makes a refreshing change. We had Sunday Lunch in the bar which was delicious and the portion sizes were generous. The staff were friendly and chatty, prices were very reasonable. This hotel also has a small, if a little cool, swimming pool. A sauna, jacuzzi and a sizeable gym. The pool area is very inviting and looks like it was refurbished quite recently. The only disappointing part of our stay was the breakfast. It’s meant to be cooked to order but the bacon was seriously overcooked (as if it had been sat around for a while and had dried out) and the fried eggs given to my husband were very unappealing - their bottoms were an odd green/black colour. Overall it was a great one night stay and we’d happily stay here again. It was perfect for the event we were attending, the leisure centre was a real bonus, the staff were lovely and the room was very comfortable. It was also great value for money"

"Very convenient but the hotel is very tired and needs some TLC. There is blown plaster everywhere from damp, old air on unit spitting out dust, holes in the floorboards in the bathroom covered by lino. Just generally past its best. Location is great if you’re looking to stay in the centre but it’s ok at best. Particularly for the price. Staff were pleasant enough though and it’s attached to a pub which is a bonus."

"Honestly three stars is enough. Staff seem genuinely under siege from aggressive management witnessed managers making things worse while bombing around the building full of importance. One manager was so wound up she snapped at my wife for ordering coffee They clearly don't enjoy their job which is fine The hotel is clean and modern just don't expect anyone to say hello"

"This chain hotel exceeded my expectations in every way to be honest. A relative had a bad experience at a different Holiday Inn in Basildon, Essex so I wasn't expecting much. How wrong I was! This was the best chain hotel/motel experience I have had and I've stayed in a large number including the competitors. The room, booked as a standard twin, had two comfortable double beds for a start and was very spacious. Large TV and decent wifi. We opted for the inclusive breakfast and dinner which made the cost very low for what was a very nice restaurant with a great menu for both dinner and breakfast. Also the car park was on site and very secure and spacious and reasonable at £5. Also, having got a fine at a Travelodge for a brief stop whilst asking in reception about parking it was very clear what you had to do with signs in the car park and in reception. But the best thing was the staff. They were all really polite, helpful and friendly and could do enough for you really. Right from the room attendant to the Manager! So I can thoroughly recommend it for a stop over or a short break in Nottingham where in town everybody was really friendly as well. A*****"
