I booked a room after reading the reviews thinking,”how bad could it be?” I messaged the hotel twice and called to request an early check-in, with no response. At check-in, we were told that a room would be ready within an hour and that we would receive a call when our room was ready. In the meantime, we could leave our bags at the hotel until it was time to check in, so after waiting in line to check in, we got in line to check our bags at the cost of $6 per bag. After receiving no call to let us know that our room was ready, we returned to the hotel for the normal checkin time, and waited in line for the third time. The customer service representative at check-in was completely unapologetic that we did not receive the promised call within the hour or even two hours. I’d call her rude, but she probably deals with tons of rude people all day, so benefit of the doubt. When we got to the room, the TV was not working. We were told it was a hotel wide problem that could last for several days. The room was OK but the coffee maker had not been cleaned, and contained used grounds. Overall a good location, but very much lacking customer service.

The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. U loved that the room was stocked with everything we needed for our 3 night stay! The staff was so very courteous and helpful! I loved how close to everything in Times Square it was. I will definitely come back to Riu on my future visits to NYC!

Staff was super friendly, rooms were very clean and the perfect location. The beds need to be updated. They aren’t the most comfortable. I’d give it a 5 if they upgraded the beds.

Extremely clean. Staff very courteous. One of the best dining areas for breakfast/dinner food service.
