The Lankford Hotel will be 100 years old next year! Staying there is like staying at your great-grandmother's home. It is not a modern hotel. Sitting on the Atlantic Ocean for 100 years, it has character and ambience that modern hotels do not have. It is exactly 200 steps from the front desk to toes in the Atlantic Ocean. It sits on the boardwalk with a beautiful upper porch deck from which to watch the sunrise. The rooms are small and there is no elevator. However, the location on the boardwalk at 8th Street couldn't be much better. The hotel is undergoing some renovations and will include a coffee snack shop once completed. Another thing to know is that the doors to the hotel are locked between 2:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., so if you are a late night partier either be back in before 2:30 or don't bother to come back until after sunrise! The hotel recently changed hands. For those who have stayed before, the wonderful John is still there, and Cheyenne and front desk staff are just lovely people. Everything about being at the Lankford was homey and comfortable and the people staying there we're very very nice! I would stay there again, however because I am older I wouldn't stay there in the middle of August because of the issues I would have walking up and down the steps in the heat. Again, you can't beat the location at 8th Street, 200 steps from the Atlantic Ocean. I plan on returning and staying at the Lankford for future trips to Ocean City, making it an annual trip.
