This is a big resort with several pools and a large beach. We went here in July 2020, and due to the coronavirus this property made a ton of changes that were not advertised or noted on their website or Expedia’s. First, I booked a Ocean Front and paid extra for it, and then was given an Partial Ocean View room and no refund. The room was nice and clean, but I paid extra to have Ocean Front and then didn’t get it. And since I booked through Expedia and not RIU directly, they said they couldn’t give any refund. So that was super disappointing from the beginning. The resort has hand sanitizers and people cleaning 24/7 which was very nice, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Because of covid, all 4 of their “specialty restaurants” were closed for the entire duration of our week-Long stay. So we ate buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which was decent food, but one of my reasons for booking RIU was for the speciality restaurants and I understand that due to covid there were changes, but that absolutely should have been advertised, as I would’ve chosen another resort for this stay. Overall I’ve given most stars Bc of my past stays with RIU and because I know a lot of my negativity comes from covid related things that the resorts are learning how to handle.
