Expensive Shed cottage
We rented this cottage b/c we wanted a beautiful ocean front view and private beach where we could swim. As we drove up to the cottage our excitement turned to gloom. This is a very old, run down home with exposed wiring throughout and no upkeep. This home needs a major remodeling to get it up to date for what this landlord charges. Had we driven by prior to our stay, we would have cancelled right away. The view from the cottage: you will have a view of concrete pillers and a large for sale sign of a cottage whose structure was started but never finished. There are tall weeds growing throughout the property and blocking your view of the ocean. The private beach that we paid for, is full of rocks, seaweed and the water is dirty due to the boats that are parked there. This was very disappointing as we could not swim there. We had to walk up the street to another beach, lugging all our beach belongings and lugging it all back. This defeated the purpose of paying all this money to have our own private beach. The furniture is all outdated and broken. I slept in the blue room one night to snuggle with my youngest son and could barely move the next day. My entire back was hurting. I looked under the bed and saw that the underneath frame was broken. The small attic room was extremely hot and unsuitable to sleep in. This room could easily be improved by adding an air conditioner and blocking off the opening in the wall from the garage underneath it. The cushions on all the chairs are completely worn out, dirty and uncomfortable. There is a white table chair that is broken and nobody could sit on it. There would be no way that we could have had 8 people stay here and have somewhere to sit. There is only 1 bathroom and it’s up stairs. The stairs are steep and a tripping hazard due to their design. Not suitable for elderly/small kids. We would be embarrassed to have a family member or friend know that we stayed here. There are no walls just thin wood. There was water leaking from the outside chandelier from the last small rainfall. I can’t imagine staying here in a rainstorm. There is wall paper peeling off the walls in the kitchen and the refrigerator is making weird sounds like it’s ready to die soon. Our kids and we could not wait to leave. It smells like a very old run down house built in the 1920’s..We were so happy to be home and would never stay here ever again.
