"Great location and a nice big room as we both had a big suitcase to contend with. Easy check in and the staff were very helpful. The laundry facilities were good as we managed to get a load of washing done which was helpful as we are on a 4 week trip."

"We loved this hotel. It’s amazingly close to the castle and within walking distance of a delicious Hoto Moto and 711. It’s clean, quiet, we loved the bathroom, and the AC was freezing cold. When we needed help the front desk was amazing and helped with anything we needed. We will be back!"

Mercure Nagano Matsushiro Resort & Spa

10/10 Excellent
"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Outstanding – One of the Best Hotels We’ve Ever Stayed At! The Mercure Nagano Resort exceeded every expectation and was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. The hotel is perfectly situated on the outskirts of the city, making it incredibly easy to access, with plenty of free parking and the convenience of being able to come and go at any time of the day or night. It’s the perfect base for exploring the region while enjoying a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The breakfast deserves a special mention—it was, without question, the best hotel breakfast we’ve ever had anywhere in the world. The selection was simply incredible, with an enormous variety of Western favourites alongside authentic Japanese, Chinese, and other Asian dishes. Every morning felt like dining at a premium restaurant, and there was something new to try each day. For anyone visiting during ski season, the facilities are outstanding. The hotel has dedicated ski and snowboard drying rooms, secure lockers, modern self-service laundry facilities with new washers and dryers, and excellent male and female onsens that were the perfect way to relax after a day on the slopes. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the staff were warm, welcoming, and always happy to help. We travel frequently and stay in hotels all over the world, and Mercure Nagano Resort has set a new benchmark. If we could give it more than five stars"

"Our stay at the Ryokan Tsuchi to Ito was nothing short of a dream. The ryokan itself is beautiful with gorgeous details and comfort in every corner. The host, Kimi, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for, and provided wonderful recommendations as we spent our days exploring Nagano. The food is absolutely exceptional, and you can tell they take great pride in the food they grow and Kimi’s mom is an incredible cook. We will never forget our stay, and enthusiastically recommend it to anybody."
